We had the good fortune of connecting with Gladys Bumanglag and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Gladys, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Consistency. Being consistent helpsme in making sure the quality, care and passion is visible in all my pieces. This may be as simple as looking over my pieces when I’m done, before it’s packaged and sent out to my customer. Those few minutes to look over each piece makes a huge difference!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My love for art started at a young age, I always enjoyed drawing and over time life happened and being creative was something I no longer had time to do.

When I started, it was to help a friend out. I was far from thinking it would become a flourishing business venture.

I love the idea of turning something ordinary to something beautiful and useful at the same time. This is why I chose wood as my material and pyrography as my tool to create custom made art.

My challenge was thinking about the answers to some of my Whys and How’s. Some of the questions that I thought of were, “will people like what I do?”, “Is there an audience for what I do?” and the questions went on and on…until I finally stopped and realized I was my own challenge! I was already challenging myself and I haven’t even started yet.

So how I overcame this? I just started, and thought I’d figure it out along the way.

It may not work for everyone but so far it’s been working well with me which I am blessed and thankful for.

I want everyone to know that each piece I create is unique and not one board will ever be the same as the other. What you get is my passion on a board.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My friend Dorry who is also a small business owner, encouraged me to start my business. She is that one friend who is always reminding you of your worth, something most of us overlook. We all need that one friend who will remind us that we are capable of doing more.
