Meet Golden Flora: Music Producer/Beat-Maker

We had the good fortune of connecting with Golden Flora and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Golden, do you have some perspective or insight you can share with us on the question of when someone should give up versus when they should keep going?
This one is a hard one to get right because it’s a factor that never stops showing up. My thought process is always to never give up but there at times that moving on is the right choice. If a song isn’t right, I do my best to work on it to make it shine. However, the hope for this idea is bigger than the idea itself and we get caught up on the challenge before realizing that the time spent on this would be more productive with one that’s more exciting right off the bat.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My music consists of the idea of escape and transcendence to the listener’s own mind. The sound behind Golden Flora is about a chill psychedelic voyage that can take you both inward or outward from your everyday life. I’m excited for an album coming next year and more videos as well. I’ve been looking into doing more visuals that stick to the music I’ve been working on and have made a lot of friends to collaborate with. Thanks to these friends, Golden Flora has grown exponentially and although it wasn’t easy and it took a lot of work, having people believe in your art can make all the difference between progress and stagnancy. The main lesson I’ve learned this year is to wait and listen. There are so many lessons to be learned when one takes up the time to just wait and observe. It has made my message more clear and fruitful. Inspiration can come from anywhere so it’s good to always take the time to remember and open your ears. Golden Flora is a project that highlights what music does best. This project is meant to take the listener to another world and escape their own for a bit. We all need vacations but the idea of this music is to take the mind away for a minute and maybe it will come back refreshed and ready for the hard path that life can be.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If I had the whole day to go out with my friends I’d like to start by having Venezuelan breakfast in Doral. Then, we would go to the Frost Museum of Science for their fresh exhibitions. After that, the Wynwood Walls would be a good place to hang out. Since we’re in the area, I would suggest to go to The Taco Stand, of course! Then, maybe check out some live music from Gramps. Early in the night would be a good time to check out The Hive if they have any events and some galleries in the area. At night I would go to Las Rosas before ending the day at Mary’s Sandwiches for some delectable croquettes.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First and foremost, I’d like to thank my friends and family who have supported my endeavor since the beginning when my studio consisted of a laptop and an old bass guitar. And a special thank you to Strange Bass in Miami and FTR VRYTHNG in Memphis for growing with me and letting me be part of their families. And and for specific people, I want to thank Lamebot, Emily Topaz, Madsavvy, Sohn Jamal, Strooly, Tehkal, and Ams, The Poet.
