We had the good fortune of connecting with Grace Schindler and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Grace, what habits do you feel helped you succeed?

Daily habits are key for me to help me feel at my best and succeed in every area of my life. Spiritual connection is necessary for me on a daily basis. I start my day with meditation and usually a spiritual or inspirational reading from some different books or daily readers. I also draw an oracle card every morning too. Meditation helps me ground, re-connect and re-align with my Higher Power and my purpose. Getting into alignment through meditation helps transmute energy.

Another habit I have implemented in my daily life is list making. I am a list-maker and I find that when I write down what I need to get done, it’s much easier to go in order of importance for my tasks. I always have ongoing notes for lists in my phone for what I need to get done.

Lastly, for habits that help me feel my best is physical activity on a regular basis. It helps keep my mind clear and takes me back into my body and out of my head. I feel less foggy and tired and more alert and sometimes even find inspiration when I’m moving my body. It’s important for me to be consistent in my daily habits to be able to give from a full cup because the work I do requires me to give to my clients and hold space for them.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?

My business is Radiant Grace and I am an Esthetician and Reiki Master. My goal is for each person who comes to see me for a treatment to feel wholly refreshed and rejuvenated and to feel beautiful from the inside out.

I feel what sets me apart has been my own struggle with my skin. The reason I had such an innate interest in skin starting at a young age was due to my own skin struggles. I had chronic painful (physically and emotionally) eczema for my entire childhood. Then in my early 20’s, I suffered from acne and finding how to treat it was a part of my learning and growth as an esthetician. I can empathize with my clients who are struggling with their own skin conditions and I’m able to help them. Through my 16 years of experience as an esthetician, I have also learned a lot through treating my clients with different skin conditions and concerns over the years. Understanding the way ingredients, tools and machines work to help treat the skin is vital information and knowledge.

I also utilize my intuition and use energy work to help treat different issues my clients are having. My business is more than a facial, it’s an experience that goes beyond the surface level of the skin. It is energetic and healing on so many different levels. It is a time for my clients, who I call Radiant Beauties, to stop and make time for themselves, to reset and re-align with their health and wholeness and truly become radiant from the inside out.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?

If anyone visits Miami, I love to take them to some of my favorite go-to spots! It depends on what my guest wanted to experience in Miami, but always for a first timer to the city, I think seeing the iconic Ocean Drive is a must. Also on the beach is the Standard Spa. We could hang out there for the day to experience the spa with the hamam, the pools, dining by the bay and the chill vibes of the unique property. For a beach day, we could go to South Point either chill on the sand or rent bikes and ride around the boardwalk.

Seeing Wynwood and the art all around there is also a must! And while over there, heading to the Design District and Buena Vista to eat and shop. If they want to try some yoga, I would take them to Ahana in the design district for a class.

I love doing a short Keys trip when friends or family are in town. First stopping at Robert is Here and getting a shake or juice and seeing the farm on the way down to my favorite key, Islamorada to stay a night or two.

I would also suggest getting on a boat in Miami to get to experience the city from the water. It’s a whole other feel! Kayaking in Key Biscayne or Oleta in North Miami is also super fun and a great active activity.

I feel like there are always so many new and trendy restaurants all around Miami, which I like to try but I usually go back to the same ones over and over again! For Cuban food, I usually would suggest Versailles on Calle Ocho or Cafe la Trova. I really enjoy getting a low-key meal at Doggis Arepa Bar on Coral Way. I order the churrasco arepa with a guanabana juice.

This city has so much to do at any time! There truly is something for everyone for any interest you may have!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?

Oh my! Wow! There have been so many guides along my journey that have helped me at different times to grow and evolve in my career. Going all the way back to childhood, my Mom supported my love of all things skin and makeup from as long as I can remember. She let me play with her old makeup and make homemade masks in the kitchen that I would put on my sister and myself. My Dad always waited patiently for me to read the labels when I was a kid when we would shop to pick out which products were best for our family. I have been reading the back of products checking ingredients forever!

My dear friend Angela was the first person to suggest that I would make a great esthetician back when I was 19 years old, and that it was something she thought I should look into. I ended up touring a local Aveda school shortly after our conversation and went on to become an esthetician for the last 16 years! My Esthetics teacher, Erum pushed me every step of the way out of my comfort zone to grow because she saw potential in my work. I am forever grateful for her belief in me and her expertise that helped me learn the foundations of all my skills. The first person to take a chance and hire me, Julie, gave me the freedom to not only get to choose the skincare line for the Salon & Spa she owned, but also design the esthetics menu. I had so much fun creating and learning so much through that role I had at my first job as an esthetician in Wisconsin.

After moving to Florida, I worked in luxury hotel spas, where I met Patrick, who was an influential supporter of my craft being the only esthetician (not dual licensed) to work in the spa at that time. When I was hired, it was rare for a therapist who was not dual licensed to be hired in luxury spas in Miami. I was inspired along the way by Patrick through how he was a leader and innovator in the spa world. I am so blessed to have experienced him as my Spa Director. Another Spa Director who played a huge part in my expansion was Dennis who offered me so much trust and freedom to be myself fully in my work in Miami Beach with him. Through my wonderful former co-workers, I was inspired to start taking private clients while I was working at my full-time spa job. And to all my Radiant Beauties who come in on a regular basis and who refer me to their family and friends- It means everything to me! I am so thankful for all of the influential people in my life who have helped me become the esthetician I am today!
