We had the good fortune of connecting with Grace Terrell and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Grace, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
The idea to start my own practice as a Holistic Nutritionist developed because I was dealing with some health issues of my own. Throughout the process of trying to improve my health naturally I learned so much about the impact food has on every aspect of our health. Once I saw how much my life improved from changing my diet I felt a responsibility to share it. I then went on to get certified to become a Holistic Nutritionist and start my wellness company.

What should our readers know about your business?
I think what sets me apart from other nutritionists is I have a very “no bs” approach but also strongly emphasize the mind-body connection. The body is not just a set of separate systems, it’s an ecosystem and when someone is experiencing health issues it’s important to take into consideration the mental and emotional state as well as the physical. Your physical body affects your mental health, but your mental health also affects your physical body. That has to be step one in understanding how to bring your health back to a good place.

In my practice I work with people who are dealing with gut health issues, hormone imbalances, and autoimmune conditions. I work 1:1 with clients and also have a signature course called The Gut Health Guide. I try to really teach people how their bodies work, and things that they can implement everyday that support their natural physiology. I think when people have a deeper understanding of how things impact them it really helps them stick to their habits.

I’m most excited about the emerging science on the gut microbiome. I think as we learn more about it it’s going to have the power to change the way we think about health and nutrition.

Running a business has been a huge learning curve! I never really imagined myself as an entrepreneur so i’ve really had to step into a new version of myself as a leader and business owner to get to where I’m at now. The biggest challenge has been having to wear so many different hats, but that’s also the fun part!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Some of my favorite spots in Miami to hangout are Surfside Beach, Sunset Harbour and South Pointe Park. There are so may amazing restaurants but some of my favorites for healthy food is Avo Miami, Uchi, Layla, and Mandolin Aegean Bistro.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’ve learned so much from listening to Dr. Mark Hyman, Andrew Huberman, Dr. Joe Dispenza, and so many more. There’s so many crazy intelligent people in the health space and they all have such unique perspectives that i’ve pulled from. I also learned a lot from my dad growing up, he’s a chiropractor and has so much knowledge about holistic health and how the body works as a whole.
