We had the good fortune of connecting with Haleh Houtan Designer of Jagged Halo Jewelry and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Haleh, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I have been obsessed with jewelry and anything sparkly as long as I can remember. Over the years I would look for jewelry that is both edgy and classy. Jewelry that can be worn in many different ways and with many different outfits, basically a big bang for my buck. Not finding what I was looking for is what drove me to create and produce my own line of jewelry and accessories.
Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
I create pieces that people can wear with different outfits. Pieces that can be worn in multiple ways to create different looks with the same outfit just by changing the jewelry. Our pieces are not only esthetically pleasing but are also long lasting.
Getting into the fashion business is definitely not easy. There are many obstacles and hardships that one must endure in order to create an everlasting brand. The biggest obstacle has been brand recognition. Getting my jewelry out on as many people as possible.
I’ve learned that if God closes a door he opens a window somewhere, be patient, be calm but most importantly be consistent.
I want the world to know that Jagged halo Jewelry is growing! We will be branching out into the fashion industry in more ways than one, stay tuned!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Miami has the best food in my opinion. Being Persian, I appreciate cultural differences in food. That’s what we love to do in Miami, is to go explore new places to eat. I would take my friends to Little Havana for some real coffee and Vaca Fritas!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Where I am today is a 100% credit to my father’s guidance, unconditional love and unwavering support. He has always pushed me to go after what I love and what makes me happy. His love made me the confident boss I am today.
I learned my business savvy from my mother. Her go getter attitude helped me achieve my business goals. My brother, the silent protector and mentor, thank you for always being there for me.
My husband, since the day we met, has had my back and has fully supported me through this journey. I could not have maneuvered through some of the toughest roads without his love and support.
Last but not least, my beautiful baby girl. You are and always will be the greatest legacy of my life.
