We had the good fortune of connecting with Halle Kearns and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Halle, what is the most important factor behind your success?
My brand is also my person, so it’s extremely important to maintain authenticity throughout representation of “Halle Kearns”. I never want there to be a disassociation between who I am on a personal level, and my artistry. With that being said, I have to make decisions carefully and conscientiously in order to represent my character fairly, while also pushing forward a career.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I started playing guitar when I was about 13 years old, and it quickly became my favorite thing to do. I was all consumed with writing, playing, and singing. When I was a junior in high school, the conversation of college/next life steps starting being brought up, and that’s what I realized the only thing that I really wanted/could see myself doing forever – was music! I began chasing that dream right after I graduated high school in 2015. I started booking shows and playing out full-time for about 3.5 years, all while still writing my own songs. Finally, I made the move from Missouri to Music City – Nashville, Tennessee in 2019. Since then, I’ve had the opportunity to open for many amazing artists such as Eli Young Band, Trace Adkins, Oak Ridge Boys, and more. I put out my first EP titled “Finally” on Dec 11, 2020 with my first 5 songs ~finally~ released to the world! There have been so many challenges, no’s, and failures along the way, but if I’ve learned nothing else, it’s that every closed door is a step closer to find the one you’re meant to walk through. “No’s” only just make me feel closer to my next “Yes!” My biggest goal through my music is to build connection. I want people to hear my words through song and feel better understood than when they began.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Nashville, TN has endless things to do/see! I always have a hard time deciding where to take people visiting because there are so many great options! I would say start with brunch at either Hampton Social (boujee and downtown!) or The Sutler (a little more rustic southern-style cooking with live music). Then probably to Broadway if they haven’t seen it – you have to experience it! All of the live music/lights/people watching is hard to beat. For an evening event, I think The Listening Room is a great place to visit. There’s never a shortage of incredible artists playing and the atmosphere is all about the song. Then I would probably end the day either on Demonbreun where there’s a strip of honky tonks where a lot of locals hang out, or in Printer’s Alley which has more awesome bars! Of course you have to drive through music row just to get a feel of the town and see the history there. Then there’s ALWAYS Jeni’s ice cream 😉 The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Love this! I have a million people I want to thank and who deserve a little recognition, but for this moment I’d really love to thank my publicist and dear friend, Craig Brooks. He’s believed in me and my music for years before even releasing a song, and has had my back every step of the way through this crazy past year. Couldn’t have made this year happen without him!
