We had the good fortune of connecting with Hannah & Christiana Cohen & Weber and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Hannah & Christiana, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
As wellness and beauty connoisseurs, Christiana and I, felt there was a void in the Miami wellness sector. We desired for a space that was all-encompassing, by intertwining a mindful and beauty journey. We began the process of opening our own location, with the desire to provide an exclusive member space, and access to a series of luxury cosmetic experiences designed to expand their self-care odyssey.

During that process, we made a thorough research of the assets and technology that did not exist in Miami and in the US. Among one of the machines, was the Iyashi Dôme, a Japanese biohacking sauna. We immediately fell in love with this technology for its transformational and healing benefits. As we became friendly with the founder, we realized that the Americas was an untouched market for the brand, and we jumped at the occasion to take over the US + LATAM expansion.

We decided to pivot our wellness space concept, and focus on this distribution which had enormous potential. Our expansion has begun on the East Coast and beyond by forging new partnerships with spas, wellness hotels, and luxury and innovative real estate developments. Our goal is to make this niche wellness technology available to a wider audience while continuing to build our presence in major wellness hubs and hospitality groups.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Our business involves the distribution of the Iyashi Dôme, a transformational Japanese sauna technology that provides a variety of benefits thanks to its patented black carbon technology. This brand has been on the market for over 20 years in Europe, Middle East and Africa and for the last year & half, we have been introducing the brand to the US and LATAM market. A key element for Hannah and I is our international background that has led us to understand a European/Japanese brand and know how to introduce it and tropicalize it to a different market.

The spectrum of opportunities of our business is endless, from luxury hospitality groups to longevity wellness centers, as well as personal usage in ones home. However, given the breadth of these opportunities, our goal is to begin tackling focal markets and regions such as Miami and Mexico City where the wellness space is vibrant and willing to incorporate new modalities. Once the buzz gains momentum in these cities, an easier expansion can occur across the US and LATAM.

As every other entrepreneur, there have been challenges and learning experiences that we have faced along the way. We have been able to overcome them through trial and error, and asking for guidance from other like-minded entrepreneurs. And foremost, regardless of the ups and downs, what keep us going is our deep drive to share the healing benefits of this technology to an audience who are on a mission to elevate their wellness journey.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We both live in Miami Beach, where we spend most our time year round -and we are always excited to venture around the city, especially with all the hot new openings and variety of options Miami is bringing!

We like to start our day with a nice work out, we both vary between Level One Lagree, Sol Yoga, Jet Set Pilates & Soul Cycle. A few nice post coffee spots around the are Maman or Panther Coffee in Sunset Harbour. We try to squeeze throughout the week some strolls around the Venetian Islands or South Point Park, both beautiful during sunset hour.

Going out, we like to try new spots, yet we have our usual that food, drinks and quality of service are always consistent, such as LPM, Forte dei Marmi, Casa Tua, Osaka, Mandolin. Some of our recent discoveries that most likely we will go back to are La Mártola, Sparrow and Sunny’s Steak House.

We are also art passionates, so definitely this is an exciting season for us! The Rubell Museum is always a must, as well as Design Miami during Art Basel, and Vizcaya Gardens where you can disconnect from Miami’s vibrant scene and enjoy a gorgeous scenery.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Christiana and I would like to share our appreciation for the Iyashi Dôme team, Shogoro Uemura the founder of this wonderful healing technology, and Florent Cornelis, head of training and operations. They recognized our to vision to expand this technology in an untouched market. They have shown their support and guidance throughout the process, whilst giving us full freedom to execute our own expansion strategy across the US and LATAM.
