We had the good fortune of connecting with Hannah Gomez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Hannah, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
When I was working a 10-7 job, balance was the last thing I had in my life. My WFH situation wasn’t ideal, and my workload was overwhelming. I hardly had time to do anything for myself before it was time to clock back in. When I made the decision to quit and start freelancing, I had so much free time, I didn’t know what to do with it. I was feeling just as unbalanced, but on the opposite side of the spectrum. Once work started picking up, I got myself a planner, started utilizing Google sheets/docs, and got myself organized. Committing specific days/times of the week to tasks and activities has been a great way for me to balance my days and weeks, making sure that I’m efficient in my work while ensuring I have time to exercise, and do the things that make me happy.

One of my favorite parts about what I do is that there is always room for growth and improvement. As someone who had a difficult time adjusting to change, working in the music and entertainment industry helped to overcome that, especially being a young, petite woman in her 20s working in a male-dominated industry. Learning to adapt to the situation at hand is a skill I am proud to have acquired. Fulfilling different roles in the workplace taught me so many new skills that I’m grateful to be able to use today. I was constantly being pushed outside of my comfort zone and it wasn’t easy. Nonetheless, I understand how necessary that is in order to create the life I want for myself. On this journey, I’ve learned not to take things personally, to believe in myself and my abilities, to let go of the things I cannot control, and that my path is unique to me. Through this, I created “Hans-On Media,” a media company providing hands on production services including videography, editing, and more. I’m excited to continue going down my path of success and for all the work I will produce, making an impact on those whose cross my way.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Being born and raised in Miami has been a blessing, as I’ve been exposed to so much culture. Morning coffee in the Gables is a must, Crema being one of my current favorites. Lunch at Moon Thai (also in the Gables) and dinner at Macchialina in Miami Beach will not disappoint. I’m all for living an active lifestyle, and finding hobbies that are great for the body and mind. I’ve recently taken up rock climbing and Project Rock in Fort Lauderdale has been my favorite place to do that. You also can’t pass up on a day at the beach! Crandon Park in Key Biscayne is the perfect spot for a relaxing beach day, but Hollywood beach has a boardwalk with tons of spots to eat, grab drinks, and listen to music if you’re looking for some fun.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I wouldn’t be where I am right now if it weren’t for the love and support of my parents and inner circle. The ones who supported me in my decision to leave the job I wasn’t happy at anymore, and who encourage me to utilize my creativity every day. I am so grateful to be surrounded by other creatives that want to see me succeed as much as I want to see them succeed. To Sarah, Zack, Alexis, Jorge, and Marcus: thank you for your endless support throughout this crazy journey. I can’t wait for our continued growth and guaranteed success in our fields.
