Meet Heatstroke | Rap Group

We had the good fortune of connecting with Heatstroke and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Heatstroke, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
It all started when Zane and Shamoo were talking about the future of rap music. They were sitting in Zane’s car after a long night of partying just thinking about what their next plans were and what they were going to do with the music they wanted to make. After rapping together for years, busking on the corners of Wynwood, the two finally decided to make some songs based around house and electronic music. A few songs were made by Zane and Shamoo but they needed someone to help them engineer. Shamoo knew a producer by the name of Nairb Zepol whom he’d met in college. Zane, Nairb, and Shamoo hit it off immediately and suddenly Heatstroke was born!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
When people ask us what makes us different we show them the music. Tell us one other rap group who really sounds like us. We haven’t really seen a rap group mix some authentic rap flows with dance and electronic music in the way we have. We are a truly independent no label group making music that sounds just as professional as a label release. We’ve gotten to where we are right now through a lot of hard-work and hours. Again we wouldn’t be able to have made any of the songs if it wasn’t for all three of us! Shout out to the BOOMBOX for helping us get shows as well, and also shouting us out all the time. Building a fanbase is hard, and if it weren’t for our connections and networking we would not have been able to be where we are!
One of the biggest lessons we learned was working together as a team. We also learned the importance of networking. Hard work pays off, discipline and self criticism are also important.

We want the world to know Heatstroke is the future for rap music. There is no other rap group out there like us. As a great designer once said “It’s very easy to be different, but very difficult to be better.” And trust us, we’re better.
Just know that we are coming and when we are there we aren’t stopping

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Definitely gonna rave at the Boombox cause that’s the real MIAMI! Yambo’s got some gas fritanga food too! Jamaican Kitchen too has the best jamaican food in miami! After a long night though we’re definitely going to Denny’s

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
We want to shoutout the boombox for helping us with pretty much everything! Massive shout out to Mango and Laz y’all are the best dj’s in Miami! Ozzy Apollo for hooking it up with meeting our friends at the boombox too!
