We had the good fortune of connecting with Helen Hooper and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Helen, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
My background and upbringing impacted my life tremendously. I was born and raised in Apalachicola Florida down in the panhandle. A very small town that I am thankful for my parents George and Helen instilled values, morals, respect, and the appreciation for working hard to obtain your life goals.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I love helping women to advance and work at their fullest potential. The Lady’s Choice Center came out of that passion. What started off as a center to encourage young women turned into a life’s work which I absolutely love. I have a component for men as well but my life’s passion is seeing women succeed at the highest level, achieve goals, and go from life level to positive life level. I am so proud of my work in low income communities, and still doing so. Opening up a medical/ mental health clinic on site on a low income property was a big deal for me. Seeing the residents get the resources they need. I had a lot of challenges, but I love a challenge..lol. Getting others to buy into your vision is sometimes a very lengthy taxing task, but if you want to be successful you have to see obstacles and not see them. Don’t allow what you see to obstruct what you want to achieve. Push forward, for every No, you are bond to get one yes, start there and build. I would like the world to know the passion I have for helping to make others lives better, to help the become a force in the world cultivating their passion and leaving their mark. Being successful is conquering your destiny.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would eat at Roy’s in Jacksonville Beach. It’s on of my favorite places to eat, especially on special occasions. I love the beaches in Jacksonville and surrounding area. Hanging out on the beach would be a must. We would visit to small shops in St. Augustine Fl. Beautiful boutiques and small crafts shops are very nice, and visit their wine cellars.. awesome.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are many people that comes to mind that I can absolutely give homage to, but the person I would love to highlight. One of the greatest loves of my life , my father George Hooper. As a child I saw my father work hard, love hard, and set an example of what the word Father really meant. Being a commercial fisherman he wasn’t home for weeks on in , but made up for it when he was there. From participating in the Cuban Boat Lift in 1980 to making two trips to Cuba in order to insure freedom for so many immigrants to climbing trees, cooking our favorite meals when he was at home, playing baseball, teaching how to drive and so many other things a good father does. So shout out to my father who passed away in 2010.
