We had the good fortune of connecting with Helena Tercero and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Helena, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Starting a business requires a lot of determination and perseverance. It was once just an idea, a desire to offer what I love to others: cooking. The critical success factors after two years of hard work have been discipline and organization. Discipline to wake up every day and keep on going even when growth seems evasive. Organization to be able to prepare a product with consistent quality, while working on social media, purchasing ingredients and taking care of my two beautiful daughters.
At the end, all this would be an impossible feat, if I were not having fun doing it!!
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I have been cooking since I was 13 years old, and I love experimenting new mixes of Latin-American flavors and recipes. Over time I have developed my unique flavors that delight people from different nationalities. It has not been easy, especially because just two years ago I did not even know what Instagram and digital marketing were!, it has been a challenge learning copywriting and making videos for my posts, but has allowed me to spread my Vision, that through my food my customers “have more time for what is most important”.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would definitely take her to Winwood and the Design District, and I would give her a gastronomy tour that includes the best Peruvian, Sushi, Meat and Seafood restaurants in the area.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would have not gotten where I am without the support of my husband, and without the admiration from my daughters, who are always so proud of what I do, and love my food.
