Meet Hoda Hakimjavadi | Dietitian

We had the good fortune of connecting with Hoda Hakimjavadi and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Hoda, what do you attribute your success to?
I don’t subscribe to fad diets and un-realistic lifestyle modifications. Everything I tell my patients is backed by science and can be applied for the rest of their life.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I work as a clinical dietitian at UCLA hospital where I have the immense pleasure of working with some of the most caring an amazing medical staff. My patient population includes individuals in the ICU that are in need of alternative nutrition support given their critical health status. I also see patients one on one that have come across my Instagram page @HealthyByHoda where I work with the individual in achieving any health goals they may have.
I can say that I am very blessed to do the work I love. I am so passionate about it, that it never feels like a job. Given that I started as a pre-med student while in my undergraduate program at UCLA, I look back at how I decided to make the switch in my career path. Although it was scary at the time, I am beyond grateful for my decision.
This has taught me that being passionate about what you do and really following your heart also makes you better at what you do. My patients can always see how much I care and have been extremely delighted with the care I give them. This is all due to me following my heart into a field that I love and as a result have now succeeded in.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Definitely start in Santa Monica, the beach is so beautiful. It is also wonderful restaurants and stores in the vicinity. There is also lots of great hiking trails, so definitely a day of hiking followed by a smoothie at Kreation. Then top off the night with a great dinner at my favorite restaurant CrossRoads (best vegan food you will ever find).
Also an early morning paddle boarding at Marine Del Ray and just spending the rest of the day enjoying the beautiful view and great food options around.
A day of museums; we have so many in LA such as LACMA, Getty and Getty Villa.
Will definitely need to check out Venice. Great for walking around with lots of shops and of course a bite at the Butchers daughter (a great vegan spot).

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My mom, she started my sister and I on a health journey at a very young age by always preparing the most wholesome and fresh foods at home.
