We had the good fortune of connecting with Honiara Barrios and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Honiara, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I recently read this on risk..
“When we risk nothing, we risk everything. Everything we intended to do. Everything we came here to be.” – Brianna Weist
And it really got me thinking of all the risks I’ve taken in my life, and even how if I wouldn’t have taken those risks that would’ve been a risk in itself.
Risk has taken a big role in my life and career growth. I think we are always taking risks in our life whether we’re conscious of them or not. Whether the risk might elevate your life or keep you stagnant, it’s still a risk.
Taking the risk of following my heart and my dreams, no matter what anyone said even if they thought I was crazy and reckless, has gotten me to be who I am today.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Well, I am a self mastery & spiritual mindset coach, I have a coaching business where I help people step into their power and take control of their emotions and actions. Basically I help people go from “wtf am I doing with my life” to “I am certain that every decision I make is the right decision because I have control of myself, my emotions, and my actions”
What sets me apart from others is that it’s important for me that I practice what I preach. I am proud to say that what I teach my clients, I practice it myself in my own life.
I am most proud and excited about starting my own business and continuing to pursue it no matter the HUGE lessons Ive had to learn.
Getting to where I am today in my business was not easy, it took ALOT of INNER work and perseverance. A constant practice of self regulation, showing up everyday for myself and doing the things that shifted my energy SPECIALLY when I did not want to do it. I invested in myself and my business by hiring coaches and attending programs to learn more about myself and therefore extend my learning experience to others.
There are still days where fear and self doubt creep in because hello we are human hahaha, I’ve just learned with practice to shift to a higher frequency quicker.
Our lives don’t change until we do, so to start a business, I knew I had to start doing something different. And that was the way I showed up for myself and others.
I have learned that our mind is one of our most powerful tools.
I have learned that we are all capable of doing incredible, extraordinary things.
I have learned that if you believe, you can make it happen.
I want the world to know this…
I used to think I had it all, the money, the job, the car, the purses, the men, but I felt unfulfilled, angry, stuck, disappointed with myself and my life, like I had more to experience but I did not know how, I did not really know myself or what I desired because I had always done what I had been told to do, get the job, find a partner, party and buy nice things.
Until I made a decision that I was no longer going to feel this way or live feeling like this any longer.
I want you to know that it is POSSIBLE for you to change your life and feel deep levels of peace, joy, and fulfillment every day and that you’re only a decision away.
The moment you make the decision to change your life, the entire universe will help you embody that.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Oooooh I LOVE Miami! First stop will definitely be the beach and my favorite beaches here are Hollywood and Sunny Isles beach, then we would stop for some açaí bowls at Raw Addiction. One of my favorite places to meet others, learn, and that are a must go here is Modern Om at Upper Buena Vista, a conscious community where they host meditations and conscious community events. I have met the most beautiful people and teachers there. Another fun thing I love doing here in Miami is going to farmers markets and vendor markets during the weekends, you get to explore countless of artists and others sharing their gifts.
Another fun place is Sunday at South Pointe park where the community gathers and plays. Annnnnd another of my favorites is going to a Heat game, the vibe and the people are amazing!!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Oooh so many have helped me get here. Thank you to A Course In Miracles, Dr. Joe Dispenza, Tony Robbins, Mindvalley, Modern Om Miami Community, my sister Karen, all my friends, my coach Zoe Olivia, thank you so much.
