We had the good fortune of connecting with Hugo Conde & Maite Blanco-Fombona and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Hugo & Maite, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
aeCore Backers Backdrops is a new company that was born in mid-2020 during the lockdown due the Covid-19 pandemic. Walking through Instagram we saw how Foddies, Bakers and Food Photographers grew every day, because everyone was locked in their houses. We realized that in many cases the photo’s background were always the same or the food was perfectly set but you could see the daily life of each house on the back or looking for the right place, the light was not the appropriate. Every day more people began to work from home and the real life loomed on everyone’s cameras. So we began to think of viable alternatives to make each individual space look more professional. It was then that the idea arose to create, under Hugo’s technical knowledge about thermoplastics and Maite’s in photography, the idea of creating Photography Backdrops that were lights, colorful, resistant and that did not required especial care, that anyone could have access to them, keeping and making them part of their new activity. The important thing was to create a too not just for professional, but for everyone who needed it. Thus, in 2 months of brainstorming and continuous sleepless nights, we put out a Hight Quality Product and opened our On Line Store, www.aecorebackers.com , from which we sale our Backers not only in the US but throughout the world.

What should our readers know about your business?
Our products are essentially the same, but their characteristics make them superior to all others available on the market. They are primarily Food-Safe, a very important point when photographing food. Do you know how much food is thrown away due to being in contact with backdrops that don’t guarantee that these foods can be eaten? In the world we live in, every piece of food is valuable. Also, something that differentiates us from the others is that our backdrops are not printed, the different patterns are trapped within the material itself, for that reason they are more resistant to abrasion. And not only that, they are also waterproof and very easy to clean. off course they no glare and are 100% recyclable. We care about to keep the environment, because we only have one planet to live on and it is everyone’s job to take care of it. We produce 3 basic sizes, but we are able to produce any size that our customers require, through special orders. We are so proud to have developed a high quality product and to have achieved recognition from our customers. We have managed to be on the market in a very short time, always offering the best customer experience. Getting here has not been easy, working with the tools, suppliers and budget reduced during the lockdown, made us make use of all the knowledge we had acquired in our previous years. All this experience showed us that out of everything bad, something good can always be obtained and that human beings are capable of adapting to any adversity and coming out stronger. We are small business, but with a social conscience, we are now in the process of finding an organization that needs our support, to develop a donation program. We have several that we are evaluating to see which one is more in line with our vision. Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Managing from home to create a new product is not an easy task. There were people who gave us their support. Our raw material suppliers worked with us blindly, giving us their unconditional support. Each of the members of our family gave us support, not only emotionally, but they gave us their knowledge and expertise in terms of technology and photography to help us carry this project forward. To a great friend, Coco, who asked us to take this interesting and challenging initiative, who also served us as a blind client to evaluate the progress of the website.
