We had the good fortune of connecting with Idalia Salsamendi and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Idalia, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Without a shadow of a doubt I would not be where I am if it weren’t for the risks I’ve taken, both in my professional and personal life. I think risk is absolutely necessary to grow. Without it, we stay stale and stuck… never evolving, never learning, never truly experiencing all that life has to offer. The most important thing about risk is to make it as calculated as possible, ie: calculated risks. Take a step back from the situation and analyze as objectively as possible the pro’s and con’s to any situation. Then decide. Never let fear hold you back. When I feel some sort of fear about the unknown, I know undoubtedly that it’s a chance for me to grow and excel. My heart beats a little faster than usual, and it’s a sign that I’m on to something good. Learning how to use fear as an indicator for growth has been one of the greatest lessons I’ve learned in my life.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
When people think of Idalia Inc., I want them to feel like they’re home. It’s a company that you can come to and know you will be seen, heard, and valued. Idalia Inc. is broken down into four segments: brand strategy, influencer strategy, editorial writing, and public speaking arrangements. Then on top of that, I have online courses that both brands and influencers can take. This was a real game changer in the industry as information tends to be kept hush-hush and hoarded, where I believe it should be accessible for anyone wanting to excel in what they do. Just recently, I launched a subscription service for my courses where you can get all my courses, templates, and guides for just $19.99/month. That has proven to be another home run.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Although I’m a born and bred American, I’ve been in and out of Seville (Spain) for the past two years. It’s what happens when you marry a Spaniard and you venture forth to see how his way of life is. Who doesn’t love an European adventure? When friends and family visit, I love showing the around the city and really indulging them on a truly cultural trip.
Here are my top must-see/eat places:
1. Plaza Espana : The biggest plaza in Seville, it was build in the 1920s for Ibero-American Expo, and since then it’s attracted millions of tourists. Since it’s nestled in the Maria Luisa Park, you can spend an entire afternoon here walking around and enjoying its splendor.
2. Los Gallos : This is my favorite spot for flamenco, hands down. You can’t visit Seville without experiencing some flamenco.
3. La Eslava : Named one of the best restaurants in Seville by the Michelin guide, La Eslava take traditional Spanish “tapas” to the next level.
4. Casa de las Duenas : A visit to this 15th-century beautiful house, with its large gardens and stunning Mudejar patios, offers you a fascinating insight into the Duchess of Alba’s life and family.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My mom deserves all the recognition and credit in my life. She’s been my backbone, my inspiration, and my voice of reason.
