We had the good fortune of connecting with Iesha McCants-Butler and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Iesha, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My thought process behind starting my own business Sassymomma Nails was to be able to make others feel confident about themselves and to make them feel good with self care. Business Women In Detroit is all about Women networking together building together supporting each other in business and growing as 1.
What should our readers know about your business?
I started Sassymomma Nails in 2020 through the pandemic what started off as a hobby later inspired me to go to school in 2021 and get my certificate for nails. It was not easy at all being a mother working full time and just dealing with major life changes. It consisted of a lot of dedication and hard work and pushing myself to finish. I’m very proud of myself that I completed the journey in June of 2022 and now on my way to get my state board certification. Sassymomma nails consist of nail care services as well as customized press on nails where no sets are made twice each set is made to fit each individual’s personality that they won’t see anywhere else and I love being creative and giving a service that sets me apart from others for my nails and my customers. I overcame a lot of challenges by praying and not giving up when things got hard and when I felt like I wanted to throw in the towel.
Business Women In Detroit was established because I wanted to give women in business a platform to connect with other business women. We network to support each other to build together as women and as women in business. I believe that we all can grow and learn together uplift each other and assist each other it’s a movement of unity. I Just love being a vessel to connect others.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Downtown MI is so welcoming and flourishing by the day we have beautiful buildings and establishments like the Fox Theatre, Little Ceasars Arena where many venues and concerts are held. I love Chene Park it’s so calming off the water with the River Walk great art and it’s for everyone. It’s many great places here in Detroit great museums like DIA. I have always enjoyed the Science Center since I was a child that has many new exhibits. Greektown has great food that I enjoy and outside along the streets are great food places to enjoy as well.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I wanna shoutout Toni Porter she has been a inspiration to me she pushes me and keeps me on my toes with my business I appreciate the love and all the support she gives me.
