We had the good fortune of connecting with Indhira Piquion and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Indhira, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I was hesitant for more than 5 years about starting my business because I was busy focusing on finishing college. I knew I wanted to start a business that focus on the things I enjoyed doing and that my parents will enjoy being part of now and can manage when they decide to retire. I initially wanted to start a business that delivers anonymous flowers, specifically roses with a caring message, to people admitted in the hospital. I came up with the name “Caring Rose” for the business. I was stuck in figuring out the business plan and getting access to flowers and hospitals.

I went back to a new business plan. I wanted to start a business that I can showcase my creativity and focus on Celebrate Health, Celebrate Wellness, Celebrate Birth, Celebrate Life, Celebrate Love, Celebrate Accomplishments & Celebrate You. Growing up I always had a passion for being creative, especially when it comes to decorating. As a child, I threw parties and weddings for my dolls and invited all the kids in the neighborhood. My family, especially mom, loves to throw parties. I was always the one decorating for the parties or decorating the house for different holidays. I often received positive feedbacks for my creative decorations.

I wanted the business to be more than just planning or decorating for an event, I wanted it to focus on caring for the person who wants to have the event. I wanted to take away the stress of having an event. I came up with the name Caring Rose: Caring for you & your event, LLC

Caring Rose: Caring for you & your event, LLC is an event planning business that focus on celebrating significant moments in your life. It was not easy to start the business. One of the challenges, I often encounter individuals who don’t understand your worth or your time is precious. Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Living in Florida, you cannot go wrong with being by the beach. It’s soothing and so calming to be by the beach on a perfect Florida day, which means it is sunny but not so hot and clear sky with no sign of rain.

We would initially go to Las Olas in the daytime around 10 am. We would go to the Museum of Discovery and Science for couple hours to reminisce on our childhood filed trips, walk to the cheesecake factory to split a meal. We would have dessert at Yogurt ur way for all you can eat frozen yogurt while looking at the water view by the Riverside Hotel. After enjoying the yogurt, we would walk into the art galleries on Las Olas to check out all the artworks. Then we would walk to the parking lot at Fort Lauderdale beach and sit on the benches by the basketball court. We would take pictures by the beach pretending to be models. When we are hungry, we would go to Lulu’s Bait Shack for cold virgin drinks in their souvenir cups. We would stay by the beach until 8 pm to have dinner at Spazio and watch the live performance. After dinner we would briefly go dancing at the Rooftop.

Next day we would go down to Vizcaya in the morning. We would check in at the Intercontinental Hotel with a bay view. After checking in, we would walk all around bayside, hop on a party boat and then eat at the food court. We will stay at bayside for the performances and then go sleep at the Intercontinental Hotel. After a power nap, we would drive around downtown Miami, fashion district, art district for some sightseeing. Check out South Beach for few hours and try a new restaurant.

The next day we would hang in Key Biscayne and eat at the Rusty Pelican Restaurant. We would go swimming at Miami Beach or just have a barbecue by the beach with other friends and family. We might watch a basketball game at the AAA and they go back to bayside if it’s not too late.

We would spend the rest of the week in Orlando to Medieval Times, downtown Disney, Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Epcot, Universal Studios, etc.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My family and friends, especially my parents are number one fans of Caring Rose: Caring for you & your event, LLC. The business would not be here without their support during my highs and lows. My mentor Willy from Gold Choice Ballroom plays a big role in guiding and assisting Caring Rose: Caring for you & your event, LLC.
