We had the good fortune of connecting with Isaac Mizrahi and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Isaac, the decisions we make often shape our story in profound ways. What was one of the most difficult decisions you’ve had to make?
Probably the decision to leave my home country, Brazil, and move to the US in 1999 when I received an invitation from my then employer, Coke, to move to their HQ in Atlanta, GA. I was recently married, raised close to my family, and loved living in Rio de Janeiro. But leaving your comfort zone behind you was empowering and liberating. That decision allowed me to get to know different places, travel the world, meet different people, to be exposed to different cultures. After 25 years of this decision, I couldn’t be happier that I made it.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am currently the CEO of alma advertising, one of the country’s leading ad agencies. I’ve been at alma for 14 years and prior to that I worked in the corporate side of business in companies like Coca-Cola, BellSouth, Nextel and Sprint. My professional background is in Marketing and over the past few decades I focused a significant part of my time to help brands and organization grow their business by fully understanding America’s multicultural consumer segments, and I recently published my first book, “Hispanic Market Power – America’s Business Growth Engine”.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
South Florida has so many options for people with different tastes! I love either kayaking or SUP at the Biscayne Bay, visiting the Lighthouse at the end of Key Biscayne, Vizcaya Museum, or the Perez Museum. Go exploring the Everglades on an airboat, ride a bike in the Old Cutler Road, visit the Fairchild Botanical Garden, visit Zoo Miami, watch the Miami Heat or Inter Miami games. You like shopping, of course Sawgrass is a great option, but try also The Falls or The Shops at Merrick Park. Hungry? You can’t go wrong at Novecento, like vegetarian food? Try Planta Queen in Coconut Grove, if you like me loves Middle Eastern food, you have to try Mandolin at the Design District. For those who like different options I enjoy Sawa at Merrick Park, that offers quality Japanese and Middle Eastern food. Hungry for Tapas, try Bulla and finally one of my favorite “best kept secret” Mexican place in Miami, Guadalajara Cafe in Pinecrest.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
And the saying goes, “if you want to go faster, go alone, if you want to go farther, go with others”. I couldn’t achieve a fraction of what I did without a significant numbers of individuals, from my ancestors, my grandparents who immigrated to Brazil escaping the horror of war and religious intolerance. My parents, my family and friends, my wife, my sons, the ones who believed me enough to give me professional opportunities, the ones who were part of my teams, then and now.
