We had the good fortune of connecting with Isabella + Jose Echeverry and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Isabella + Jose, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
Everyone says it must so nice to be a business owner and make your own schedule and go on vacation whenever. At least everyone who happens to NOT be a business owner says that. But real talk, I feel like in the 4 almost 5 years of being in the wedding photography business it wasn’t until we had our daughter that we really separated and balanced our work life. We went from having face time calls at 8 pm sometimes 10 pm to make sure we have phone calls that don’t pass 6 pm. It wasn’t until we had our daughter that we implemented a balance. We were slaves to our own profession. Editing all day, responding to email on the way to a wedding. We wanted our clients to feel like we were there for them 24/7. Kim possible, and unstoppable lol. It is not until you balance rest days with work days that you really succeed. When you don’t find a balance you find yourself burnt out. No passion, no love. And then at that point you may find yourself unhappy and wondering why am I feeling like this. As wedding photographers we feel the weight of our client’s big day on our shoulders. They deserve the best from us to be 10000% present for them during the planning and on the biggest most special day of their lives. And that means creating and implementing a healthy routine to avoid feeling burnt out.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Hello, we are a wedding photography and videography company based in South Florida. My husband and I started this company back in 2018 with the dream of not only growing our company but also capturing beautiful love stories along the way. We are both hopeless romantics and just fell in love with the authenticity and the raw emotions that are captured on a wedding day. We are both creatives that love freezing those beautiful moments on a wedding day such as the bride’s first look with her father, the ceremony kiss, the first dances, and of course the couple’s bridal portraits. We are the son and daughter of immigrant families and we both have beautiful love stories that we have been exposed to all our lives. My grandparents were married for almost 70 years and emigrated from Puerto Rico back in the 1950s to start a life here and live the American dream. Their relationship was unique and a great example of how important it is to celebrate and capture love. Jose, my husband has also a beautiful love story to look up to, his parents have been married for almost 30 years and they still are as in love as they were when they met. So we both grew up with beautiful love stories that we strived to not only make one ourselves when Jose and I got married but also capture other ones and make unqiue memories for so many couples that are finding love present day. We believe that our art has many styles and variations, some photographers edit their photos very bright, some very moody, but at the end of the day the important thing is to capture the moments and while we love having a style and a specific look we bring to the table, we are about much more than that. We are about the experiences of our amazing couples that are doing this for the first time, we strive to be there for our couples not just as photographers and videographers but also support them, help with their timeline, give them advice, and on the wedding day, we are always there making sure our couples have an amazing and smooth experience. This is what we believe sets us apart from others. We just feel that we are there to provide not just a service but also an experience that our couples won’t forget. Our journey hasn’t been always rainbows and butterflies. Our path has been full of bad experiences, a few bridezillas, and also very busy and exhausting times that we felt that we were going to crumble from so much pressure and workload. We managed to learn from all the negative experiences and instead of allowing them to deflate us and stop our momentum we used them to push and dream higher. We have thankfully gotten recently such amazing clients that we cannot complain, we feel that mostly everyone who books our services genuinely admire our work and ethic, and it is just an amazing feeling to be appreciated and valued and we try to replicate this feeling towards our couples but giving them all of us on their wedding day and also during their wedding prep. We want the world to know that we are two hopeless romantics that are just passionate about capturing love stories and allowing our couples to relive their magical day in a very immersive and real way. We named our company “Futura”, which means future in Italian and the reason is that we believe that we capture the future every time we go to a wedding and take thousands of photos. Our couples will cherish those beautiful memories in the future, whether is a fight that they have and they are able to watch back on their beautiful day and change their way of seeing things. We also know that family members that have passed away that we were able to capture on the wedding day, our couples will always have those memories of them to look back at, and that is very special to us.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
As wedding photographers, we would always recommend areas that we believe are just uniquely beautiful such as Vizcaya Gardens, Bill Baggs Cape Park, Matheson park, and many many others. We believe that Miami has so many amazing spots that aren’t your typical locations such as South Beach or Downtown Miami. We think that parks and nature reserves and historical venues are the way to go if we had a best friend visiting. We also do love the Wynwood area for not just photography but also the amazing restaurants it has, The amount of different cuisines and flavors that you find is spectacular.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
We wouldn’t be where we are without God. Our faith is a big part of our success. And both our parents, instilled us to follow our dreams and to do what makes us happy. Lastly a huge part of our growth and success goes to our couples and clients for trusting us to document so many special moments and recommending us to their friends of family.
