We had the good fortune of connecting with Isabella Paez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Isabella, why did you pursue a creative career?
Since the day I was born creativity has been coursing through my veins. At the age of three, you would find me in a ballet class practicing my end of the year dance routine. At the age of seven, I was in the backseat of my mom‘s car, screaming high school musical at the top of my lungs, while looking outside the window dreaming about being a pop star. At the age of 15, i became obsessed with creating content. Back then there wasn’t no such thing as an influencer and we didn’t call it content creation. To me was just called taking pictures. And I was good at it too. the simplicity behind it is what drives me. The idea that I could capture what someone is feeling, thinking or pushing out to the world in one frame fascinated me.
For me, the reason is simple : because I wanted to.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I truly fell into this profession by accident. It all began as a hobby, something I did for fun. It wasn’t until I graduated high school during the midst of a pandemic that I realized this could evolve into something more. The first year of my career was spent interning at a family friend’s boutique, assisting with their social media efforts. Working for free was undoubtedly challenging, but I recognized the importance of building my résumé to be taken seriously.
I vividly remember spending a considerable amount on gas, commuting between my house and a warehouse filled with clothes. Despite the challenges, it proved worthwhile, as I started being referred to as a content creator. This led to opportunities helping various businesses manage their social media presence.
Looking ahead to 2024, one of the projects that truly excites me is the upcoming launch of my very own social media agency. Over the past two years, I’ve been passionately involved in assisting others with content creation and social media management. Now, the time has come to make it official and put a name to the work I’ve been doing. This endeavor represents a significant step in my journey, and I can’t wait to see where it takes both myself and those I have the pleasure of working with.
My brand is as honest as it gets. Yes, I need cafecito to function. No, we cannot put a filter on that story. Yes, let’s plan of content day.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Miami’s got a bad rap, mostly thanks to tourists and others spreading that vibe. But truth is, at its core, Miami’s all about community and culture. If someone’s never been here or doesn’t know any about Cuban culture, I’d just take them straight to Calle Ocho and then show them around my hometown in Hialeah. By the end of the day, they will be filled up with croquetas and cafecito.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I owe this entire life to my family. My mother who has been my biggest supporter. My father who pushes me to be my very best. My sister who helps me with any crazy idea that I have. My brother who even though he makes fun of me, knows that I’m actually really cool. And lastly my grandparents who fled from Communism to this country with nothing, just so that we could have everything.
