We had the good fortune of connecting with Isatu Rogers and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Isatu, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I have always been passionate about business ever since I can remember. I love giving clients an experience than a transaction. I love the freedom and independence of being as creative as you want without the pressures of meeting a corporate goal.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Hello, my name is Isatu Rogers the founder of Weyone Style boutique. I am based in Arlington, TX. As a woman who is born and raised in Freetown Sierra Leone, I wanted to share my perceptive in African Fashion with a modern twist. The majority of my merchandise is crafted in Sierra Leone and Ghana by a small group of highly talented tailors in low-income communities that lack opportunities. Affordable prices make wages for my tailors possible. Due to the scale of my production team, each style comes in limited quantities to ensure quality. My goal is to bring to you the latest Africa-inspired styles with authentic fabrics at affordable prices. To provide variety I also sell items from other parts of the world. I believe in growing in the community from the inside out. Therefore I encourage the opportunity to partner with other entrepreneurs and business owners Some of my biggest challenges were and still are inventory and logistics. The shipping costs have gotten so expensive. It’s still a struggle to maintain quality and affordability. We currently offer custom orders, to make sure we have appropriate sizing.
I would like for the world to know that African fashion, is just not a trend, but an expression of one’s pride and hertiage

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I do love Jamaican food. We will do Jamaican Gates Caribbean Cuisine. Great food and live band. It’s also a nightclub at night. Another great spot is TeDeseo, good Latin food, drinks, and salsa dancing.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would definitely like to thank my husband Mohamed Rogers and my best friend Jamie Bahsoon none of this is possible without them. Also, my very talented tailors in Ghana, who are the machines behind the scenes. I have meant a lot of incredible women along the way that gave me a platform for which I’m super grateful. To name a few @iamposhk, @RockstarrNaturally, and @Becausewomenlovebrunch.
