We had the good fortune of connecting with J-Kad Heavyweightkamp and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi J-Kad, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
To me starting my journey was all about doing what I love to do. Following my dreams and my passion are an essential key to happiness. I feel like we have to prioritize chasing our dreams and passions if we’re in a position to do so, whether your dreams and passions are a hobby or something you wanna make money out of, if it makes you happy you should go for it.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Nothing worth having comes easy and anything that comes easy usually isn’t worth much so following your dreams is always gonna be challenging because they are meant to be; but the rewards that come when you live your passion are priceless. What you learn is that you have to set goals, work with tenacity and once you reach your goals, set some new goals and challenge yourself to become better. The path is full of pitfalls but never give up and never let anyone talk you out of your dreams. Most people are afraid to go after what they want in life therefore they may discourage you to fulfill yours and a lot of times it’s not out of malice, they may just project their fear on you. Following an unorthodox path to success is a very hard thing to do for the average person but don’t be afraid to do what it takes to get to where you wanna go. Guys like Jeff Bezos or Steve Job weren’t afraid to start something nobody had thought of and look at their journey and where it eventually took them. As far as what people should know about me, they should know that I want the best for everyone around me and for myself. I like to stay positive and bring positivity around me.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m based in Atlanta and there are many restaurants and cool places to check out in general. Based upon what that friend likes I’d try to cater to what their preferences are.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
A few people have supported me along the way. My mother is no longer here in the physical realm but she’s always encouraged me to follow my passion and from above I know she’s watching over me and making sure I still deliver and accomplish my dreams. Ced Wynez, my number one producer has been a supporter of mine since day one as well. Always providing top notch production for me to record is extremely important and he has always done that and has been one of my main supporters. Thomas Taylor 3rd and Elias Hendricks 3rd whom are family have always been there to support my endeavors. So many more people have had encouraging words for me, the list is long and I appreciate everyone that has helped me along the way in any way shape or form.
