We had the good fortune of connecting with Jaime & Akim Lehmann and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jaime & Akim, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
We are a married couple, from two different cultures and work in two different industries. My husband is Swiss and works in the boat building industry. I was born & raised in South Africa and I’m in the medical field. He has a love for beautiful time-pieces and has always been fascinated by watches. I’m however more intrigued by home decor and furniture. We both share a strong fascination for cars, our goal is to build a car collection as we grow. Therefore, we decided to build our own luxury brand that serves as a creative and inspiration outlet for us. We therefore merged the worlds of watches, interior design/pieces, boats and cars to create the Alpinaluxe brand. We sort of went into it with the idea of, if doesn’t bring sales, at least it brings us inspiration and a deeper knowledge within the luxury field.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Alpinaluxe is a side-hustle we built up purely based on our love for watches, boats, cars and interiors. We wanted to use our surroundings, the Alpes as part of our brand- hence the name “Alpinaluxe“.

The Alpes are a part of our inspiration and our story. Storytelling is what dress us into the world of horological, interior designs, cars and boats.

We are still really in the beginning phase and so we have certainly encountered some challenges along the lines of building up the brand & community and sales.

We have learned to be patient and proactive along the way. Rome wasn’t built overnight and we are both firm believers that the best things in life take time.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We aren’t locals of Miami, so we can’t really recommend the truly best spots, however if you’re interested in visiting our town in Switzerland, we have some suggestions! Solothurn – You’ve probably never heard of it, however it is considered Switzerland’s finest baroque town.
Solothurn’s food scene doesn’t disappoint. If we were to recommend a few spots it would be Härdöpfu-Huus, Il Grano (located in Büren an der Aare – close to Solothurn), Löwen, and for great vibes Solheure and Aarebar Restraunt.

If you’re looking for the best place to stay, it has to be La Couronne Hotel. Absolutely charming and located in the heart of Solothurn.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
We would like to thank Olivier Gantenbein for giving us the opportunity of collaborating with his company Ginsbo Watches. We have always admired the company and their beautiful time-pieces, so we feel lucky to have Ginsbo a part of our products.

We have so many sources of inspiration, from podcasts to books. However, we really have our own strong personal drive to try, learn and grow.
