We had the good fortune of connecting with Jake Goodwin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jake, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
Jupiter Boat Bags started with a conversation between myself & a friend while hanging out on our friend’s dock. We decided there was a need for stylish marine quality bags to use at the beach or on the boat whether for a day at the sandbar or a run to the Bahamas. It has truly been a family endeavor! We have 7 children between our 2 families & decided to have a competition between the kids to come up with the logo. My oldest son, Ryan, won & with a little tweaking the Jupiter Boat Bags logo was created!

What should our readers know about your business?
We are families that love to be active outside & wanted to have stylish but durable bags to go along with our outdoor, on the water lifestyle. We have learned to work together to create the designs, decide on fabrics & promote them to others who are looking for the same. None of us have experience in marketing or sales so that has definitely been our biggest challenge but fortunately our community has been incredibly supportive & many local stores have been excited to carry our line.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would definitely recommend they stay at Jupiter Beach Resort & spend the day at the pool & beautiful beach there. We would have to grab some sushi at Hogsnappers with a Ghost tequila spicy margarita. We would stop in Blueline Surf & Paddle Co, a popular local owned surf shop & boutique that has an awesome selection including our line. We would rent paddle boards from them & spend the afternoon cruising the gorgeous waterways. We would have to stay for a few drinks at Guanabanas restaurant while we listened to live music when we returned our paddle boards there. There would be a trip to the top of the Jupiter lighthouse. We would grab coffee at Perk coffeehouse & look at local art across the street at the Lighthouse gallery. Another night would have to be dinner at Lynoras & some shopping at Jupiter Vintage, a great shop next door who also carries our line. There would be a bike ride through Riverbend park & maybe even canoe the waters there where you’re sure to spot alligators. Jupiter is a lovely community with amazing restaurants & endless outdoor activities!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
As I mentioned earlier, this has truly been a family endeavor. My business partner & his wife, Nick & Jenny Schiralli, and my wife & I have all worked together on the designs & have each taken on our own role in the business. We also have an amazing community that has shown so much support for Jupiter Boat Bags!
