We had the good fortune of connecting with Jalaine Campbell and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jalaine, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I love everything about hosting on Airbnb & VRBO. I believe that because I genuinely love this business it shined through my reviews and my Superhost status. When I realized that the work I was putting in was being noticed, I decided that I could make this happen for hosts all around South Florida.

Managing several 5 star vacation rentals is not easy and takes up a ton of time. I thought that if I can step in and help new hosts get started and give the veteran hosts the push to get them into the Superhost status, I could help these hosts bring more value to their property and provide the guests with an incredible luxurious getaway that they worked so hard to get.

Spotlite Management manifested itself in my need to want help others. Looking back, when I was first starting out in this industry, I had not a clue about hosting. Starting out as a new host is intimidating and I had to learn a lot the hard way. So, if I could help other hosts get over the hurdles by using my experience.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
We started out buying a home in West Palm Beach and after living there for several years we figured out that we were in a great spot for an opportunity to list this home on Airbnb and give it a shot as a short-term rental. After much trial and error, we finally got to a point where we streamlined our vacation rental processes and consistently getting 5-star reviews.

After some research, we thought “hey, we struggled so much in the beginning, now that we know what works we can help other hosts launching and managing their properties” from there on we laser-focused on creating a system to help out other hosts with their vacation rentals.

We know what works, and we wish that we could have had mentors at the beginning of our short-term rental journey.

Spotlite Management is a local family-owned vacation rental management company. We have 10+ years of experience, we learned all of the tricks of the trade, the hard way. We realized that there are limited options for vacation rental management without paying a bunch of fees.

We are local to South Florida and we know what works, we know how to get the most bang for you buck and we know how to keep reservations fully booked.

We are extremely proud of being able to help our neighbors maximize their properties. I grew up in South Florida so not only are we able to help our neighbors but we are able to enrich our community with valuable tourism.

Since every host is different, we offer a tailored estimate for each host. For our new hosts, we provide free mentoring, listing design, even home design. For veteran hosts, we manage bookings, listing re-design, social media marketing, all while using our team of trusted vendors for cleanings and maintaining the vacation rental. The hosts hold all of the power, they can be as involved in the process as they want to be.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
This is my specialty! The one thing we love about West Palm Beach is that there is so much to do. We would start the week by renting a cabana at The Breakers on Palm Beach Island and enjoy a day by the pool. Grab some drinks and dinner at E R Bradley’s Saloon, listening to the live music while watching the sunset.

Downtown Clematis Street is an absolute must! We would go to Sassafrass for lunch, get some caffeine at Sub-Culture before grabbing drinks and playing old school arcade games at Lost Weekend.

You can’t leave without checking out Peanut Island, we could rent some paddle boards or kayaks and paddle across the intracoastal to snorkel all around the island. If we get really lucky, we might see manatees floating around!

The Norton Museum is another “must see” WPB has to offer, as the largest museum in Florida it contains a plethora of incredible works of art.

We can end the trip with a shopping spree at Rosemary Square. The Square is hub of big brand stores, as well as incredible restaurants. There are always events and live music taking place and even a splash pad for the little ones!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I am very blessed to live in this beautiful city of West Palm Beach. When I moved here, I quickly realized that this city would be the perfect place for people to vacation. We have everything the beaches, museums, parks, shops and we wanted to share all that it had to offer.

Therefore, we would love to shoutout our entire community! Especially, I’d like to highlight our fellow small business owners that have made this community so colorful and filled our city with absolute gems. Our city wouldn’t be as incredibly charming as it is without the mom-and-pop restaurants, the coffee shops, books stores, record stores, vintage thrift shops and farmers markets.

All of these places make our city a wonderfully unique destination so without them, we would have never thought about opening up our home to travelers.
