Meet Jamara Brooks-Parmer: Founder of Uniqly Made Foundation, Advocate Coach & Author

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jamara Brooks-Parmer and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jamara, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind my success is CHOOSING HOPE despite the trials and tribulations that led me to start my Foundation. I shall never forget my mission, vision or my Whys. There has been so many times where I doubted myself and displayed imposter syndrome but Indefinitely I CHOOSE HOPE! Being able to stay on certain paths and connect with other families with Unique abilities always reassure me that I can be a inspiration and a voice for others.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Uniqly Made foundation is a nonprofit organization with a mission to maximize the quality of life to families with disabilities or special health care needs, through education, community outreach and empowerment. I wanted to be the voice in my community and stand strong in the gap for families going through the notions of caring for loved ones and or themselves. While going through my own personal experiences I didn’t have the opportunity to talk connect with other families or have community support. I had absolutely no support outside of family members that really didn’t understand my day to day besides my husband who’s been by my side from day one. All I had was my thoughts, feelings and emotions all bottled up inside my mind and various of journeys where I wrote down everything. So being able to start a organization that centers around the Unique ability community was a blessing for me in itself! My daughter is now 10 years old and the support I offer to families I wish I received a decade ago! My goal is to also connect with families across the world to be virtually supportive (with the help of today’s technology) and one day expand Uniqly Made outside of my community. I create self care boxes for UniqMoms that are in the hospital with their UniqWarrior, as well as those that are not hospitalized. The Selfcare boxes are filled with donations that can be used for a personalized Spa Day along with custom eye masks. We also create personalized superhero capes for UniqWarriors with Unique Abilities, life threatening illnesses, and those Warriors who just need to feel empowered. Our capes provide Uniqly Made Warriors an extra boost of strength and courage and make them feel like the superheroes they truly are!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I literally stay walking distance from Midtown, Wynwood and 5 minutes from Brickle City Place in Miami, FL. They all have places to shop and eat. You can also catch a movie and have plenty of entertainment. The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First and foremost, I want to give a shout out to God who is the head of my life. My  Handsome Humble Husband, Robert Parmer definitely deserves credit for my success. He has been the backbone and foundation of our family since we became parents! He always supports me and all that I do and always reassures me that the sky’s the limit!
