We had the good fortune of connecting with Jameyka and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jameyka, we’d love for you to start things off by telling us something about your industry that we and others not in the industry might be unaware of?
I think outsiders are unaware of the behind the scenes that goes on with trying to bring their desired look to life. Sometimes potential clients don’t understand why my prices are my price. A lot of hard work and supplies go into being an event decorator.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am most proud of my progress. I feel like I continue to get better and better at my craft. I have been decorating family parties and my children’s parties for years and I didn’t make it an official business until the pandemic. It was not easy going through a pandemic losing my job having a new baby and trying to juggle home life and start a business at the same time. I just remained positive and told myself that everything will work out and so far everything has been great. Some lessons I’ve learned along the way would be to not let myself get overwhelmed and even on sunny days always have a plan B just in case it rains. I love to create those magical moments for my clients and it makes me so happy when they love the outcome.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My bestfriend and I are literally the same person we live inside of each other’s brain lol. We would probably go visit Miami Beach hang out and have drinks on the sand. We would have a spa day cause she works so hard and deserves it just as much as I do. We would have a sushi date in Aventura at sushi Siam. Do a boat ride for a day with our friends and ride the jet skis while out at sea. Get cute and find a Jamaican party to go turn up at. Go to wynwood and take pictures in front of the art filled walls. And visit Ruth Chris one of our favorite spots and eat good. It does not take much for us to have a good time. We will make it fun no matter where we go.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to my children. They are my motivation to keep going every single day. Everything I do is for them. I would also like to thank my significant other for being my rock, my family and close friends for always supporting and believing in me.
