We had the good fortune of connecting with Jamika Jackson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jamika, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
Over the years, my balance has gone through some significant changes. As a young adult, I was carefree and didn’t worry much about my finances. I spent my money on whatever I wanted, and my bank account wasn’t a priority. As I got older and started to take on more responsibilities, becoming a mother. I had to become more mindful of how I was spending my money. I started to budget and save, and my balance began to grow. However, life has a way of throwing curveballs, and there were times when unexpected expenses would put a dent in my savings. But, I learned to adapt and make financial decisions that would help me maintain a healthy balance in my life, not only for me and my kids, but my clients as well.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
What sets me apart from other hairstylists is my attention to detail and my ability to listen to my clients. I take the time to understand my clients’ needs and preferences before I begin any service. I believe good communication is key to achieving the desired look. I also understand that everyone’s hair is different, and I customize my services to suit each individual client. I constantly stay up to date with the latest trends and techniques in the hair industry, and I am always looking for ways to improve my skills. My passion for hairstyling is evident in the quality of my work, and I pride myself on delivering exceptional results every time. I strive to create a comfortable and welcoming environment for my clients, where they feel relaxed and confident that they will leave with a hairstyle that they will love. Aside from all, branding is the most crucial for hairstylists to establish their identity and attract potential clients. As a hairstylist, my branding strategy involves creating a unique and memorable brand identity that reflects my personality, style, and values. I believe that branding should communicate my passion for hairstyling and my commitment to providing exceptional services to my clients. My branding strategy involves building a strong online presence through social media platforms like Instagram and Facebook. I regularly post pictures and videos of my work, share tips and tricks for maintaining healthy hair, and engage with my followers to build a strong connection with them. My goal is to create a consistent and recognizable brand that sets me apart from my competitors and helps me establish a loyal client base. By focusing on my branding, I am confident that I can attract more new clients and build a successful and rewarding career as a hairstylist.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We have so many different food spots to hit up in the city, and there all delicious and great no doubt about it. But my favorite spot to sit and enjoy myself would be Earls, it’s very low key with incredible vibes. The food and drinks are blissful. The customer service is amazing, and it’s a great place to meet new people. So we would definitely check that out, followed by a stroll through Wynnwood.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Shout Out to my beautiful kids, my parents, and all of those that are rooting for me. But most importantly, I want to give a Special Shout Out to the rest of the amazing stylist out there.
