We had the good fortune of connecting with Jana Rose Carrero and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jana Rose, what do you want your legacy to be?
I’d truly like to be remembered for my authenticity and kindness. Sometimes, being immersed in a creative industry, whether it be fashion, music, art, design, etc…the environment can be a little intimidating, let alone competitive. If you stay true to yourself and treat everyone with kindness, you can cultivate a wonderful support system.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I freelance as a fashion, lifestyle and music blogger, curating monthly playlists as well as producing content for clients in the hospitality, food/beverage, and design industries. In addition to this, I am also employed at one of Miami’s top social media marketing agencies where I have been working for the past 8 years as senior manager, copywriter, social media strategist and influencer liaison. I would say the biggest challenges are the occasional feelings of imposter syndrome and self-doubt that creep in. When approached by a dream client I look around, and think why me? But it’s important to remind ourselves that each of us is unique and brings something different to the table.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Dinner & drinks at Pao Faena. Perez Art Museum Miami followed by dinner at the restaurant there, Verde. Stroll around Miami Design District. Amara at Paraiso for happy hour al fresco. Jazz, wine and charcuterie at Lagniappe. Dinner & drinks at Jaguar Sun. Beach day at Soho Beach House followed by dinner at Cecconi’s. Pasta & wine at Fooq’s. Stone Crabs to go from Joe’s and picnic on the beach. Sunset on Hobie Beach.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to give a shoutout to my mentor, friend and colleague Liza Walton. I’ve learned so much through her about client services, business relations and healthy work/life balance. On a more personal note, she has provided me with unconditional support and taught me the value of self-care, resilience and patience in the face of life’s unexpected challenges.
