We had the good fortune of connecting with Ja’Nia Harden and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ja’Nia, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I don’t think I ever had a choice. It was something that was in me totally. I only wanted to create. I only ever want to be an artist with every medium that I could get my hands on whether it was performance visual. I don’t want to do anything else, but be a creative in an artist.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
It definitely isn’t easy. In fact, it is challenging every day I still work 9 to 5 as a music teacher in a public school system, and then I have to turn around and entertain; so sometimes it can feel overwhelming but what I can say is that I don’t want to do anything else but be a creative, a performer, an artist, a musician an author and whatever God wants me to be in that space. I truly want to add light and happiness to people with a small or big young or old.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Wake up and I would head to the beach immediately I would then check out the local spots for lunch on any given day could be anything but it’s this great empanada place down the street from Edison high school that is amazing
For shopping, I’m heading to the flea market. You can find really great deals in the shops in mini bodegas over there.
Before the sun sets I will definitely be at miracles off of 15th Ave. in liberty city
Night life if it’s a Thursday I’m trying to see if Art Prevail’s project is hosting the open mic. Do you find the Dopest artist there
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
God, My Family, friends, and team Melodious entertainment! I can’t do anything creative artistically without my partner and husband, John Harden.
