We had the good fortune of connecting with Janola Morris and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Janola, how do you think about risk?
I think risk is an investment. To me risk taking is a critical skill in running a business or simply just being a leader. When we hear the word risk we tend to primarily think of the possible lost vs the possible reward. For me risk taking is necessary, starting my business was a risk, I risked failing in an saturated market, I risked personal finances, friendships and so much more.

Being risky has allowed me to excel far beyond what I’ve envisioned. I took a chance in an saturated market, and look at the results? I have been able to impact students and families across the US, connect with great people, expound and create new friendships and most importantly experience financial freedom.

For me risk taking is an investment, a necessary investment.

What should our readers know about your business?
Doctors of Academics Learning Academy & Tutoring Services provides private education for preschool through sixth grade students. Everything we do is tailored to the needs of the children and families we serve. We are proud of the progress and growth of our students. Each and everyone of them had to put in the ground work and dedication to reflect what we’ve instilled. Today we are who we are because of our team, students, parents and staff. It wasn’t always easy and savory, some days were long and difficult. Being honest & building trust with our teammates is what got us here today. Making the vision and responsibilities plain got us here today. Our take away lesson thus far is honest and communication. Be honest with those you serve and communicate effectively.

Doctors of Academics change student lives by instilling hope, inspiring imagination and igniting a love for learning.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We would definitely visit grab breakfast at First Watch, maybe spend the day at Sea World Theme Park and end with dinner at Cooper’s Hawk Restaurant and Winery.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Shoutout to God, for keeping me going. To current and past families & staff of Doctors of Academics Inc. each and everyone of you have played a major role in the success of our company. You’ve all shed light on our strength and weaknesses. To my Mom, Keisha Clarke, thank you! Thank you for believing in me, and being here at every step of the way! Your drive to keep going has kept me going.
