Meet Jany Bello, M.Ed, BCBA, IBA, TX-LBA

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jany Bello, M.Ed, BCBA, IBA, TX-LBA and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jany, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
When I started my business, my thought process was very clear: there was a huge gap in access to understanding ABA especially within the Spanish-speaking community as well as supervision quality.
I was constantly meeting families who were receiving services, but didn’t fully understand what ABA was, what quality therapy should look like, or how to advocate for their children. At the same time, I saw professionals entering the field without proper guidance or supervision and feeling completely lost.
I didn’t just want to create a business, I wanted to create access to knowledge.
Education that was culturally relevant, in Spanish and English, and actually explain ABA in a way that made sense for real life.
Because when families and providers understand what they’re doing, outcomes improve, and that’s where real impact happens.

What should our readers know about your business?
Exceptional Minds ABA was built to make ethical, high-quality ABA education accessible to everyone, while also addressing the gap in resources for the Spanish-speaking community. What sets us apart is that we don’t just teach people to pass exams, we teach them how to actually practice in real life.
Getting here wasn’t easy. I’ve had to navigate the business side which was all new to me, face challenges of insurances, and many other things that happen in the “background” of a business all while staying grounded in my values. I had to learn to teach ABA in Spanish which was definitely a learning curve, but every obstacle pushed me to be more intentional about what I offer.
Running a business was never the plan, but when life throws obstacles at you, you make changes. I’m grateful to have had the help and support from by husband and my family.
What I’m most proud of is the impact seeing professionals feel confident and knowing families are receiving better services because of it.
And at the core of it all I’m just a mom, advocating and building something with the hope that every family receives the kind of services I would want in my own home.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was visiting, I’d plan a full week that mixes beach time, amazing food, and kid-friendly experiences because being a mom of three small children, I’m looking for fun, relaxing and activities I can enjoy with them.
We’d start with a relaxing beach day in a kid friendly area.
For a fun, family-friendly day, I’d take them to The Berry Farms. It’s such a nice change of pace open space, activities for the kids, but I’ll be there during the week to avoid weekend crowds!
Food is a big part of it for me, so we’d definitely hit spots like The Rusty Pelican for the views and ambiance, and Talavera Cocina Mexicana for a really good dinner.
Mid-week, I’d turn it into a staycation and head to Marco Island, book a beachfront hotel, slow down, enjoy the water, and just reset. That’s more my style lately, relaxed, beautiful, and intentional.
For me, the best time is really about balance family-friendly experiences, great food, and spaces where you can actually relax and enjoy it all with my family.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would definitely dedicate this to the families I’ve worked with, but also to my own family.
My family grounds me in everything I do. They’re a constant reminder of why this work matters. They push me to be better, to advocate for higher-quality services, and to never settle for ‘good enough.’
Because at the end of the day, the standard I hold is simple: I want to train professionals that I would trust to work with my own children.
That perspective changes everything; it keeps me ethical, intentional, and focused on real impact.
So this is really for both; the families I serve, and the one I go home to.
