We had the good fortune of connecting with Jaqueline and Patty Cruz Salazar and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jaqueline and Patty, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
As a 12 year Army Veteran I learned the crawl, walk, and run phase of being a leader. I learned the importance of being a good follower in order to be a great leader. It is easy to say I can do better than that person, until you are in their shoes and actually have to be responsible for day to day activities and all success and failures.
The Army and my strong code of ethics gave me the skillset necessary to excel in anything I put my mind too. I was fascinated with the idea of being my own boss and doing things my way based on trial and error of past experiences. Therefore, I took the necessary classes and obtained the necassary degrees in business management while in the Army, so when I retired I would start my own business.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My business is actually a joint effort with my wife Jaqueline Cruz. We believe in always learning and growing as a person and sharing our success and wanting others to succeed as well. We live by the philosophy that we are all brothers and sisters and together we can use our strengths to help others succeed.
We bring high quality and standards to our products and services that are meant to elevate those we serve. We empower our clients to take control of their lives and their finances in order to better their future.
We offer financial education in the areas of building credit, credit repair, budgeting, savings, starting a business, building business credit, and financial literacy for teens.
We want the new generations to learn from our mistakes and the importance of establishing good credit practices from a earlier age.
We also focus a lot of our efforts in educating the hispanic community in everything credit related and resources that are vastly only available in English.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Our business is set in the heart of Miami. There’s nothing like the night life and great food to enjoy. Being of a hispanic background there is so much culture to enjoy in the area. I am more of a nature and family person now. Had I’ve been in my twenties the night life and dancing would definitely be the spot.
Now with a family and more responsibilities, I’m more focused on my health and overall spiritual well being. After at least one night of drinks and dancing, I would actually set most of our time at the beach, sight seeing the night life, and camping at one of the many wonderful parks and recreational areas in the entire state. Enjoy some fishing, nature walks, and definetely s’mores depending on the weather.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’m a big believer in that we are all connected beings and our knowledge isn’t ours alone, but those who came before us, and we just build and strengthen that knowledge and relationships and we grow. There would be numerous individual people to thank therefore I would generalize and thank our families, our teachers, the Army as a whole, and everyone who ever set a goal and devoted their time and effort in completing that goal and never giving up.
