We had the good fortune of connecting with Jasmine Villette and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jasmine, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
Prior to forming Villette, I worked as an interior designer in the commercial and residential industry. I grew up surrounded by the city’s dynamic coffee scene and would frequent local coffee shops when shopping or meeting with clients. During this time in my career, I honed in my skills in creating functional and aesthetically pleasing spaces mastering the art of creating a strategic design that keeps customers coming back.
In 2019, my husband and I relocated to Miami and were met with a new vibrant coffee culture, steeped in culture and family values. We loved this new world, but its accessibility was a challenge. In 2020, coffee shops were the first to close, and I poured my creative energy into creating quality espresso drinks, and latte art and began a quest for innovative flavor combinations. Drawing inspiration from my grandmother’s recipe book, I created a signature menu infused with a bit of Caribbean flair. Locally sourced ingredients became the foundation for the coffee offerings, showcasing signature creations like the “Island Chill” – a coconut-infused cold brew – and tea delights like a hibiscus lemonade.
Villette stands as the embodiment of my passions: a harmonious blend of design, coffee, and the vibrant spirit of her Caribbean heritage
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We started Villette as a little mobile coffee cart with a big dream: to bring delicious coffee to everyone, everywhere! Sure, there were a few bumps along the road, but it’s been an amazing adventure. We always wanted to open a cozy shop, but the cart helped us find the perfect niche (and some pretty awesome customers) along the way!
Being mobile gave us the chance to meet tons of great small businesses and people, making some true coffee connections. We even got to know what kind of coffee our customers loved best, so we could create special drinks just for them. We can customize pretty much everything, from our signs to the sleeves for your coffee, and even create latte art designs – the sky’s the limit! It’s all about making your coffee experience unique.
More than just coffee, we envision Villette as a hub for creative professionals and a pillar of the Miramar community. Miramar is currently lacking a specialty coffee space, and as proud Caribbean neighbors, we love to infuse our heritage into unique drink recipes, creating something truly new and exciting. This wouldn’t just be a personal achievement; it would empower us to build a welcoming space where everyone feels included.
We are passionate about fostering a vibrant community hub and our mission is to empower other small businesses. We actively support our community by sourcing 85% of our beans, syrups, and teas from fellow minority-owned and women-owned businesses. Our shop isn’t just about coffee; it’s a platform to showcase the talents of local artisans.
We proudly display their handcrafted products alongside our own, creating a unique space that reflects the richness of our community.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We would have to recommend Lady Baker in Pembroke Pines. They not only offer a selection of exceptional pastries and breads but also feature top-notch coffee.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
