We had the good fortune of connecting with Jason Shatsky and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jason, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I’ve always been a creative person that enjoys building things. When I started my first business as a teenager it wasn’t because I decided I wanted to be a business owner — but rather because I was passionate about something and discovered a problem that I wanted to solve.
What should our readers know about your business?
TicketRev makes it cheaper to find tickets to your favorite events by allowing you to name your offer price for the seats that you want.
Here’s an example: A friend and I want tickets to see the Lakers when they play in Miami, so we create a bid for two tickets at $100 each, located anywhere in the lower level. This enables any seller with matching tickets to accept our bid.
This revolutionary process is a win-win for both sides: buyers get cheaper tickets (approximately 18% on average) and sellers can sell instantly, meaning they never have to list for sale or worry about their tickets going unsold.
I’m most proud of the team that we’ve built at TicketRev and the indications of success that we’ve found thus far.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
When my friends visit South Florida I enjoy showing them around Boca Raton where I live, and then heading down to Fort Lauderdale and Miami. Our favorite restaurants are Roccos Tacos, Greek Islands, Papi Steak, Contessa, Sadelles, and Carbone.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I dedicate my shoutout to Noah Doris — a fellow Miami startup founder who inspires me to work harder and maintain a curious mindset each day.
