We had the good fortune of connecting with Jayne Havens and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jayne, maybe we can start at the very start – the idea – how did you come up with the idea for your business?
When my son was born 10 years ago he was a really great sleeper for exactly four months. A the four month mark he went through what many parents know as the “four month sleep regression”. As a first time parent, I had no idea why he went from sleeping 11 hours straight to waking hourly. I was exhausted! I took to the books and the blogs as I was determined to get him sleeping again, and I did it! We implemented sleep training and within just two or three nights he was back to sleeping through the night. The experience was pretty life-changing!

For the next few years I casually helped friends and even friends of friends teach their babies how to sleep independently and through the night. This was just a hobby, but I loved seeing the transformation for others. Eventually I realized that this little hobby of mine could be monetized. I decided to get certified as a pediatric sleep consultant and the rest was history! In 2018 I launched Snooze Fest by Jayne Havens which is my one on one consulting business. Not too long after I launched Center for Pediatric Sleep Management, my own sleep consultant certification program.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Both arms of my business, Snooze Fest by Jayne Havens and Center for Pediatric Sleep Management, are committed to supporting clients and students at the highest level. Success is achieved with passion and great attention to detail. We understand what our customers are looking for, and we meet that need exactly.

When families reach out because their children aren’t sleeping well, we know that they are stressed, overwhelmed and exhausted! We meet them with compassion, understanding, and a whole lot of patience. Once they feel safe and comfortable with the idea of making a change to the way their children sleep, we support them fully through that process.

Prospective students who are interested in becoming sleep consultants are nervous about finding clients. They know that they will make a great sleep consultant, but how will they find the families that are in need of this type of help? We address that head-on. CPSM teaches our students how to find clients and build successful sleep consulting businesses.

The biggest challenge I have faced as a small business owner is navigating systems and technology. I think for many entrepreneurs this would paralyze them, but for me, I just outsource so I don’t get stuck. I am so committed to serving others, that I cannot let my own computer get in my way!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d love to give a shoutout to my husband and kids. Prior to launching Snooze Fest by Jayne Havens and Center for Pediatric Sleep Management I was a stay at home mom. Everyone in our household was really used to me taking care of everything related to the kids and our home. Since my business has grown, everyone has done their part to pitch in to make sure our family and household continues to thrive. For that I am incredibly grateful!
