We had the good fortune of connecting with Jeanette Davila and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jeanette, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
When scrolling on social media, we get caught up on everyone’s highlights. Who’s doing it better? Who’s living their best life? How far ahead are you from where you ” should” be? Etc. But no one is talking about it! No one shares their story or their struggles because, as humans, we feel that makes us vulnerable. But what we don’t realize is that stories connect us. Hearing someone’s struggle makes us realize we aren’t alone. We don’t have to fight alone. Your voice can save a life. It can impact someone’s life forever.
That’s when I launched “Rooted in her – A Women Empowerment community with quarterly events” in South Florida. This event is the true definition of Women’s Empowerment. Designed to provide a support system and safe haven for all women. To find Motivation and Encouragement while connecting and networking with one another.
I gather a Panelist of Women who come together under one roof to share stories about their struggles and most significant achievements and touch on subjects we all struggle with and face daily.
I am also huge on Supporting Local Vendors that are Women-Owned Small Businesses. I provide a space where they can join us to get more exposure/awareness of their brand.
” No women should do it all on their own.”
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Nothing in life comes easy. But it’s worth fighting for! I’ve had to break patterns with many things that no longer served me. I was dealing with depression along the way, which pushed me to start this movement. I knew I wasn’t alone.
While figuring out motherhood, I lost my drive and purpose for who I was outside of being a mom. I started searching for a community and a support system, and everything I found was attached to a service, product, or business. I didn’t find what I was searching for, so I created it myself.
I can finally say that I’ve found a sense of drive and purpose coming back ever since I started this movement. We meet at quarterly events and have a Whats app chat for support and encouragement, along with a Facebook group to connect and impact as many lives as possible.
My mission will continue to bring more awareness to our Rooted In Her community and support as many women-owned small businesses as possible.
My long-term mission is to book an enormous conference room filled with thousands of women worldwide, lifting each other regardless of race, background, career, etc.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
What isn’t there to do in Miami? From our beautiful beaches to our wonderful city. Now, I would encourage everyone to visit Lucali in Miami beach—my favorite spot for wings and pizza. If you are in the Doral area, visit the city place or Shoma bazaar, where you can experience great music with a good selection of food and drinks.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The incredible support system I’ve received from everyone who has attended, shared, promoted, and helped build Rooted In Her, including Shoutout Interview and every other article newsletter and radio station, has allowed me to be a voice for our community and helped with this movement
