We had the good fortune of connecting with Jeanne Luis and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jeanne, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a prescribed 1:1 behavioral therapy for individuals diagnosed with autism to target developmental areas of deficits such as communication, social, and daily living skills.. We provide these services to children under the age of 17. We work very closely with their families and other healthcare professionals that they are seeing to produce meaningful changes. Being that our services are in demand and medically necessary, burnout is a real problem for staff.
I wanted to create an environment where employees were well-trained, passionate in building a career in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), are treated with respect, and provided with unlimited support. I wanted to fill a need in Miami-Dade and Broward county by having a positive impact on the quality and efficacy of intervention we provide to children and families affected by a developmental disorder.
We are very excited that our new ABA center in Doral for children with autism is now open for registration. We provide social skill programs, early intervention, and a school readiness program at our center. It is located at 9300 NW 25 ST #202 Doral, Florida 33172.
What should our readers know about your business?
My name is Jeanne Luis and I am a Board Certified Behavior Analyst. I am also the founder and owner of One on One Behavioral Services. I founded the company in 2019 to provide high-quality and ethical behavioral therapy services to children diagnosed with autism. This therapy is called Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). ABA is considered medically necessary and is insurance-mandated.
Despite many challenges, I am fortunate to have a dedicated and passionate team that is the foundation to the success of the business. Our staff travel across Miami-Dade and Broward providing services in the client’s home, school, or at our center in Doral. They work with the families to create a comprehensive plan targeting major developmental skills.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If I had to recommend what to do in Miami, my top 3 would be visiting the beaches and parks on Key Biscayne, touring the Vizcaya Museum and Gardens, and walking through the Wynwood Walls. For food, I would recommend grabbing some of my favorite sushi at Matsuri on Bird Road, heading to Little Havana for some cuban croquetas and ice cream, and then catching the sunset with dinner at Rosa Sky’s rooftop lounge.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to give a shout out to my mentor, Yanivis Gonzalez. She provided me with resources and support while I was preparing to launch the business. She continues to offer guidance when it is needed. Another person that has been crucial to the growth and success of my business is Mark Mungenast from the Small Business Development Center at FIU. I would like to thank them both for their invaluable help.
