We had the good fortune of connecting with Jeff (Jazz Royce) Alexander and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jeff (Jazz Royce), can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
We had this itch to start our own show, because we were ready to finally start something that felt personally meaningful to us, that we could also call our own. Pretty much, the idea of just having full control of an idea we’ve always been interested in pursuing
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Personally I believe that what sets our show apart, is the different personalities that each co-host brings to the table. Shoutout to my co-hosts Smokey & Jonan, they really play a great role in making this content worthwhile to watch on a weekly basis. You’re literally getting 3 different Miami personalities at one shot, vs a show where it’s 3 people who all share the same type of personality (that would get boring). Long story short, no it’s not easy. In fact the higher we progress with the show, the more it starts to feel like an actual job now. And we are still overcoming the challenges as we speak, however the number one lesson that was learned, is the importance of everyone constantly being on the same page, and moving on the same beat. What I want the world to know about us, is that we’re going to shed a big light into this city with what we’re doing at some point, resilience goes a long way.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Ahh see now you’re talking my language! My all time favorite spot to enjoy myself at (pre-covid) would for sure be Astra Wynwood. In terms of eating, i’d for sure recommend Chef Howard’s food truck down by Old Cutler (if you want a slamming bbq). Also, a great Peruvian Cuisine, Steak house, or even Fritanga can satisfy you a great deal. And i’m not sure how it is now, due to the huge migration of tourists by south beach, but I would also recommend drinks from Wet Willies!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Success to me is still a long way out. However, I wouldn’t necessarily say that I have direct mentors at the moment, but I am heavily influenced by a few stars who beat the odds. I’m heavily influenced by Steve Harvey and how he’s worked his way into being the Show business work horse, and how he gauged his show into being a life coaching type of scenario to his audience (my true goal). Also heavily influenced by Arsenio Hall & how he ran his culture driven talk show, putting the spotlight on guests with whom he saw promising talent in.
