We had the good fortune of connecting with Jennifer Efron-Duffy, Lidiane Pavan, Nada Mawad and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jennifer Efron-Duffy, Lidiane Pavan, Nada Mawad, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
We began our gifting business, The Box Boutique Miami, as a “fun project” to give three friends and full-time Moms a creative outlet while our kids (5 in total) were in school. As we began to understand our clientele and their preferences (mainly our peers & school moms), we grew as a company and quickly realized we were experiencing growing pains.

We could no longer work out of our apartments due to too much inventory, we needed a bigger space dedicated solely to TBBM and ultimately decided to move into an office nearby in Coral Gables. Our mornings became carpool drop-off, fitting in a workout and heading to the office.

In the first year of opening The Box Boutique Miami (TBBM) we put in many late nights at the office filling corporate orders and stuffing hundreds of boxes for a deadline while the kids were in bed. Now, after a year and a half in business and as working moms we have learned to create a healthy work-life balance…

Our workday ends at 2:30 pm when we turn off the lights and lock the door & we each head to school pick-up and after school activities. Luckily, summers in Miami are slower and we can enjoy vacations with our respective families.

We will always prioritize our home life but we carve out time to grow The Box Boutique Miami whenever we can. One of our most recent buying trips was so much fun as we visited NYC for the New York Gift Show to find exciting new products to fill your custom gift boxes!

We are so grateful to have the flexibility and support to make our small business successful on our own schedules. Follow our journey as we reveal our new look soon on Instagram @TheBoxBoutiqueMiami

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We are all neighbors in the same building in Coconut Grove, our family friendly local go-to spots are Glass & Vine for a playdate in the park with kids while parents sit and enjoy the Miami weather, Bellini at Mr. C coconut grove for great food and people watching, or brunch a Sadelles (the matcha margarita is amazing), taking a Paddleboard out at TKS beach concession (76 + Collins), grab a pizza at Lucali in Miami Beach, visit the Frost Museum with the family.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
We dedicate this shout out to our friends and clientele who have made this small dream a reality and have given us a wonderful opportunity to celebrate all the small moments in life along with their loved ones.
