We had the good fortune of connecting with Jeremiah Brown and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jeremiah, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
For me I believe I chose to pursue my creative passions because it was impossible to deny. I always found it weird how my perspective of life would differ from the next person and how hard it was for people to grasp my concepts. If I wanted people to see my vision I always felt tasked with the burden of bringing it to life to then show others how I view my world. I feel as a creative I’m free from the restrictions of being conventional. I’ve found that in that vast freedom there comes the fear and bondage of it’s vastness, but the challenge of overcoming and bringing life to formless thought is an exhilarating thrill ride that brings a level of satisfaction that knows no rival.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
The description of my job is complicated to say the least. On paper I’m a warehouse manager at the Flysupply fulfillment center, but in reality it’s so much more than that. I originally was hired to make boxes to house the inventory. However with the brands progressive nature I was promoted in responsibilities and tasks. I’ve been employed there now for almost 4 years and in that time I’ve went from making boxes, to picking and packing orders, In charge of picking up products, to shipping out the orders. It wasn’t glamorous however still I evolved in conditions many wouldn’t even step into and continued to climb the ladder. Day in and day out I worked dedicated to the desire to own my own company, and my dedication was acknowledged. I then became in charge of training new hires, to then being head over all new hires of the warehouse to then running our companies entire wholesales department, and even still directly working with various celebrities and other companies directly as a liaison of the company. Still through that my desire to show my creativity was burning to come forth so I incorporated that into taking it upon myself to help with the marketing department, whether in creating graphics, video concepts, videos or musical elements. To now being able to be on the company’s design team. Even then still trying to climb hire to learn more. All this ambition tied to the hunger that I must elevate and learn more to make my company the best it can be. And what I want people to know about me and my brand is that it’s a resilience and understanding of sacrifice and consistency that gets you in doors qualifications never could. You have to go through seasons you hate, that make you doubt yourself to that you must persevere through to reach the version of you that God has destined you to be. You’ll never be perfect and you may not start off with everything you need but what you have been gifted with is enough to start. So I’ve found the courage to start and I pray and look deep inside myself daily to find the courage and strength to keep moving forward despite circumstances or emotion.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Born and raised in Dade County you’re introduced to many different things. For me I would definitely recommend the beaches. I’m not much of a swimmer but after a long week of work just to walk on the sand, and hear the waves crashing is a nice recharge. You can do that morning or night. If you want to enjoy the night life I recommend Wynwood in our design district. So much Culture and great restaurants to Listen to good music and even better food and drinks. If not there you’ll either find me at Twin Peaks, Rock Bar, Duece Lounge, or even Chwa in Hollywood. These places have incredible atmosphere and food options but even better is filled with music and dancing all night long.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’ve drawn inspiration from many places, people, and mentors. Whether from my pastor Clinton Powell business and life advice, or from constant deep discussions from close friends, I feel that the most pivotal voice in my creative life came from a brand known as FlySupply Clothing. Known around the world as a cultural phenomenon that has reached celebrities, politicians and the common working class I know the CEOs as true mentors who not only have insight, but the stories, resources and results to back it up. From the overall designing process, to networking with stores or just common and uncommon business practices they have helped broaden my horizon on what it means to be a creative and entrepreneur. How to not care about opinions and to pioneer in uncharted lands, these men have done what many dream of doing and continue to grow daily and are not selfish with their knowledge. So I truly appreciate and respect them and all they’ve taught me.
