We had the good fortune of connecting with Jess Hine-Bardelli and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jess, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I am typically a risk averse person. I’ve always been a nervous and anxious person – however after major life circumstances, I realized that we have one life to live and we may as well live it to the fullest.

That’s why when I heard my favorite podcasters were starting a travel agency in September of 2020 I knew I had to be a part of it. I was listening while on the treadmill, and I immediately jumped off and ran upstairs to tell my husband I was applying. Most people thought it was a bit crazy to become a travel advisor in the height of a global pandemic – but it was truly one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.

Had I not listened to my gut, I wouldn’t have spent the last 2.5 years growing my business, meeting some of the most incredible and supportive people I know (and now call dear friends), and getting to travel monthly. I was one of the largest growth advisors this past year and was recently asked to be a mentor to newer agents. I also am co-host of a podcast called Simplifying The Magic which has been a huge step out of my comfort zone – but has led to amazing things both personally and professionally.

It has been the most rewarding and fulfilling experience to help others plan their magical vacations, and has given me a new sense of purpose outside of being a stay at home mom.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
As a Senior Travel Advisor with Fantastical Vacations, I specialize in Disney, Universal, cruise lines, and all-inclusive vacations. We offer concierge travel planning – helping with all details of your vacation. I work hard to help my clients have the very best experience that they can while on vacation, so they don’t have to!

I am very proud of how far I’ve come in 2.5 years – starting the podcast, Simplifying The Magic, with my co-host Megan, building an ever-expanding clientele base, and continually challenging myself to grow.

Becoming a travel advisor in the age of Covid and travel sites that make planning “easy” has had its challenges – but I fully believe that there is no substitution for a travel advisor that has your best interests at heart and develop relationships with you.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I absolutely love Miami and have a fantastic time every time I visit. My favorite place is Little Havana, you really can’t go wrong with the bars and restaurants – the food is incredible, the people are amazing, and the vibe is just the best. Getting a mojito at Ball & Chain and listening to the live music is the best!

Miami is also a fantastic port to take a cruise from, and my favorite is Virgin Voyages. Their brand new terminal is gorgeous and their ships are stunning. I’d highly recommend their Riviera Maya 5 night sailing and do a night in Miami on either end!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I am so grateful for the mentorship of Dan and Leslie Lowry, the support of my incredible husband Jon and our kids, and the other amazing travel advisors of Fantastical Vacations for encouraging me to pursue this goal and continue to grow.
