We had the good fortune of connecting with Jessi Guidry and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jessi, how does your business help the community?
My business inspires, educates & empowers women with PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome) to reverse their symptoms and find FREEDOM from their diagnosis. Through Integrative Nutrition Health Coaching & a variety of holistic healing methodologies, I help women find their perfect, unique recipe for ultimate wellness and living a blissful life.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My work is heart-centered, supportive of deep healing. What sets me apart from others is the deeply intimate relationship I have with chronic illness and how it is commonly mis-treated. At age 18, I was diagnosed with PCOS. I was prescribed medications that made me sick and never really helped with my illness… rather they were “band-aid” solutions. I struggled to overcome the illness with very little support or education. I spent many years experimenting with my body and solutions. I’ve experienced several miscarriages, isolation, criticism, physical, mental and emotional symptoms… ALL of the “yuck” that comes with this invisible illness.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
100% we would have to take a day to stroll through little Havana. Authentic mojitos and cubanos are a MUST as well as a beautifully created Cuban coffee.
Of course, we would have to spend a day at the beach followed by an evening strolling down the main drag followed by an authentic dinner and flamenco dancing.
I love to rent scooters to tour the city. This could be a full day adventure where we cruise around and stop to do anything that peaks our interests.
What good is a vacation without great pics? We would have to stop by the Goodtime Hotel for some great insta-worthy photo ops then spend an afternoon lounging by their beautiful pool and sipping cocktails.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There is one person in particular who has supported me through my own healing, mentored me in becoming a healer myself, empowered me to feel confident in myself and throughout the process taught me what it means to love unconditionally. Her name is Valerie Immore. Valerie is a certified Yoga Therapist, ERYT-500, Holistic Healer and owner of Sundance Yoga Studio is Friendswood, TX. For over 20 years, Valerie has had a profoundly positive impact on her community and has trained many of the Anusara Yoga teachers within the greater Houston area. I like to refer to her as an “OG Yogi”. She can be reached through email: info@sundanceyoga.com
