Meet Jessica Higgins: Managing Partner, Curated Financial

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jessica Higgins and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jessica, we’d love for you to start things off by telling us something about your industry that we and others not in the industry might be unaware of?
Finance is far more like entrepreneurship than the average person realizes. There are the old-minded institutions, the disruptive innovators and every shade in between. Most of which are valid, but there are always a few scammers at the bottom (like alt-coins, for example) looking to take advantage for a quick cash-out. This does not mean that all disruption and innovation is negative, of course. In fact, the alternative and emerging markets are simply where the institutions will be a decade later than those of us at the forefront.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Curated Fund of Funds, LP dba Curated Financial is an alternative asset manager that seeks to generate attractive, absolute returns by opportunistically and tactically investing in areas where conventional sources of capital are disproportionately unavailable. Curated Financial was formed to expand the spectrum of opportunities for investors seeking risk adjusted returns that are less correlated to other markets. Specifically, the firm seeks to exploit inefficiencies that are borne from transactions requiring significant amounts of intellectual as well as financial capital. The firm is headquartered in Miami, Florida.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
A walk down the boardwalk from mid-beach to the south of fifth neighborhood. A boxing session at Dino’s 5th Street Gym. As for dining, the specialty spicy cocktail at the Setai is the best drink in the city. For food I keep it really healthy with grilled fish at Milos or Stiltsville, unless I want an incredible meal and then it’s Lucali. Thursday nights are the best there because it turns into a karaoke bar in the evening at Bay Club (next door, same owner) and all of the locals join. It’s one of the few places that really make Miami Beach feel like a home to me. As for downtown and other areas, the keystone of a Miami Beach resident is to never leave the beach. That said, I’ll cross the bridge for a dinner at Zuma or Cantina La Viente. The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My parents’ support has been critical. Despite having a whirlwind of a daughter, they’re always there to ground me and be my cheerleaders.
