We had the good fortune of connecting with Jessica Jenkins and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jessica, why did you pursue a creative career?
Art has been my special interest ever since I was a little girl. Art used to be my only form of communication since I was non verbal until the age of 10. Doing art now is very healing for my inner child whose only form of communication wasn’t honored as a valid form of communication. I’m embracing the way I naturally communicate and sharing it with the world.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I want the world to know that my autism won’t stop me from pursuing my dreams. I may not be able to work a regular 9-5 job, but I still will try my best to use my special interest to try and be independent and self sufficient while I work on accommodating my autistic support needs.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We would go to all the nature spots so I can sit and do live painting of the beautiful scenery.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to give a shoutout to my mom, my husband, my 2 children and also my little family I’ve created on tiktok.
