We had the good fortune of connecting with Jessika Oliveros and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jessika, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
At first the idea of Jessika’s Tasty Pastries LLC came from a couple supportive friends; I made a few cakes for friends and family and they were so impressed they pushed me to make a social media page. As some time passed the more I thought about it, the more it made sense to make and sell cakes as a side hustle which then made me think about the possibilities of one day doing it full-time. What really motivated me throughout this ongoing process is the time I will be able to spend with my family.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I love being a Cake Artist; being creative as well as detail oriented has especially helped me throughout this process when making cakes for occasions such as weddings, birthdays and other events. I’ve created many beautiful cakes that are (most importantly) rich in flavor and made from scratch with quality ingredients including real butter, vanilla paste and homemade vanilla extract. I am so proud of where my determination has gotten me in regards to my small business as well as excited for the future and what is to come of Jessika’s Tasty Pastries LLC. I started working in the Pastry world in 2015 and I fell in love with the detailed work, colorful desserts and the creative freedom we had. It was the most fun I had ever had at a job but it was definitely not easy to learn and adapt. It was then when I saw a few wedding cakes and decided that was my goal, to be a wedding cake designer. In the last 6 years I have learned that when it comes to pastries or baked goods, patience is key! Temperatures are key! All of this hardwork will pay off one day when I can finally have my own bakery.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Being a local of Miami, FL more specifically Hialeah I have many favorite spots. Some of the most fun I’ve had with friends is usually in Wynwood, there are many lounges/bars or markets in that area like the Wynwood Market place that turns to a party at night. I have a few favorite places to eat in Miami including Asian Garden, Salty Donut, Drinking Pig BBQ, Dumpling King and La Hormiga de Oro, just to name a few.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Thank you to every one of my friends and family who have supported me throughout this entire process, whether it be through refferals, recommendations or direct purchases/orders, it means the world to me. I honestly couldn’t have made it this far without all of you!
