We had the good fortune of connecting with Jessyca Canal and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jessyca, what do you attribute your success to?
I would say my work ethic, determination and my way of being able to help people make decisions and see things in a different light. I first and foremost have a saying called, Swim or Swim (versus sink or swim) I do not go into anything thinking I will fail because failing just is not an option and I have had two businesses in my lifetime and both have been successful due to that mentality. If you have listened to my podcast before by chance, B3 (Boss, Babies and Bottles) then I talk about this mentality frequently. I also have a very strong work ethic, coming from an immigrant family that thankfully taught me how to work and work hard has certainly been a huge factor in EBJ’s success. Lastly though is the way I talk to people and truly help them in making decisions and showing new perspectives on situations. I have always enjoyed teaching and so being a mentor to students about to graduate has been such a big blessing for me to be able to fill that part of who I feel I am inside and then when it comes to my events truly helping my couples enjoy the process. I am able to speak to them and walk them through the process by giving them enough knowledge upfront and guiding them so that the process is as enjoyable as possible. It also allows me to handle situations with family and guests on the spot easily which relieves the stress of the day for everyone!

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am a 10-year marketing and economics specialist turned wedding planner, podcaster and single mom of 4 year-old twins. I have helped many couples realize there wedding goals and have helped them create countless memories that will last a lifetime. After years of experience in planning events for the Corporate World, I took my skills in timeline management, design work and my eye for detail to bring together a team of individuals who are committed to delivering excellence no matter how grand or intimate the occasion.

It is no secret how much I love weddings and I am not ashamed to say I cry almost every time! My blood type is champagne and my pulse runs off music. As a Miami native, parties are my jam. Growing up, I was known for always bringing the FUN energy into every room and I am blessed to say that I have been able to turn that light hearted energy into a successful business.

All the hard work has paid off being recognized with an article on VOGUE, NY City Journal and even have been featured on an episode on CBS amongst other publications showcasing what the EBJ Babes and I do. We pride ourselves in exceeding expectations.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My grandmother has always been my rock, even now in her afterlife I can hear her guiding me and showing me what it is to be a strong yet patient woman. Life is not about the obstacles but how you handle them with grace.
