We had the good fortune of connecting with Jesùs Nùñez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jesùs, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
For sure is hardwork.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
J. Nunez Gallery is a gallery of contemporary, modern and abstract art, the art is colorful and expresses joy.

All the artists that the gallery represents, including myself, have their own particular style that differentiates them from the rest and that is a factor that I have put a lot of effort into since day one. That is one of the points that differentiates me from the others.

Another reason why the gallery is different is because except for 2 artists, all the artists are women. The gallery is a space to support art created by women. In my business, I have control over deciding my business model, and for now it is one that supports the woman artist.

My gallery represents local artists, my intention is not just to be an art gallery, my intention is to be something more, a space where things happen, where local products are supported, a space for the community.

As for me, I am from Spain, I came to this country 14 years ago and I am a fighter and a hustler, I try to learn quickly and recover from my mistakes as soon as possible, this is my 13th business, most of it were restaurants or businesses related to the food industry because I’m a former chef but I have had different types of businesses, this is my first art gallery, but my way of doing things is always the same, it is a very simple formula: be honest,, humble, passionate about what I do , authentic, work hard and have ambition.
The world of entrepreneurship is not easy but I always look forward with optimism and positivity in every new step on my life.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I live in the suburbs 15 miles from Manhattan so I would probably take him to the big apple where there is always something to do. I would take him to the MOMA and the MET, to eat dumplings for brunch in chinatown, to eat a brisket sandwich, to take a walk on the highway, to shop in soho, if my wife allows me (just kidding, she always spoils me ) to some club at night, it depends who is visiting me i would take them to the diamond district and to eat korean fried chicken in the east village, to a comedy club night.
I can’t wait for my best friend to come see me to do all this lol

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My family for always supporting me, my children for motivating me to be better, my wife for always helping me and being my muse and the artists who work with me for making the gallery always have unique and special art.
