We had the good fortune of connecting with Joan Upton and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Joan, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
My favorite affirmation –or reminder to myself, is “Meet the Moment”. It helps me to just go ahead and do/say/be that thing despite the fact that I’m nervous or afraid. I think it’s such a gentle way of saying, “you’ll regret this shot if you don’t take it”.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What I do for work can make for interesting conversation…I hear the voices and see the spirits of those who have passed. It just has always been a part of my life, to be able to sense, see and hear things that others can’t. I, and my clients, find great comfort in knowing that there is a deeper relationship to this life, that there are guides, angels and loved ones conspiring for us and wanting to stay in communication.
My work is to help people connect with spirit, to uplift and offer guidance about health, relationships, personal issues and change. It is my sincere belief that it brings inspiration, peace to difficult situations and leaves us knowing that love and life never end.
And when my head isn’t “in the heavens” (though the angels always come to play), I am a coach and hypnotist and it is my deepest desire is to help people boost their happiness and change their lives.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I live in gorgeous Tucson, Arizona – a pretty desert town with amazing Mexican food and a voracious appetite for college basketball.
I’d take you on a hike in Sabino Canyon to check out the wildlife of deer, bobcats, javelina, coyotes and desert tortoises. We could dip our toes in the cool water of Sabino Creek. Next, we’d travel up to Mount Lemmon –just a 45 minute drive from Tucson, and ride the ski gondolas to the top for a piece of pie at the pie shop.
We’d venture into all of the vintage and thrift stores on Fourth Avenue. Enjoy authentic Mexican food from Guillermo’s and sip margaritas.
I’d show you Gates Pass at sunset (Arizona has the best ever) and we could enjoy a spa day at the Ritz at Dove Mountain.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
It would be impossible for me to be here doing this work if it wasn’t for my clients’ trust in my abilities to help interpret messages from their spirit helpers. Personally, Tina Naughton has been a wonderful mentor in helping me develop my psychic gifts, the Abraham book series, and my favorite Reiki gal, Lisa Crane.
