Meet Johanna Lyew-Ayee | Voice and Confidence Empowerment Coach

We had the good fortune of connecting with Johanna Lyew-Ayee and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Johanna, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Starting my own vocal studio came from a deep passion for music and desire to share that with others. As a mother, I wanted to create a nurturing environment where singers of all ages could build their confidence and develop their unique voices. Growing up, I myself struggled with confidence and when I became a mother, one of my greatest priorities became to raise confident, fearless children! My thought process revolved around wanting to inspire and empower others to express themselves with confidence through singing- something that has always been a significant part of my life.

What should our readers know about your business?
My vocal studio stands out from others because of the unique blend of focus on not only vocal technique but also personal empowerment. As a professional singer myself, I know that singing is not just about hitting the right notes; its about expressing oneself confidently and authentically. I work closely with my students to build their stage presence and self esteem ensuring they feel comfortable sharing their voices with the world- onstage AND in real life. The holistic approach is what makes my studio a nurturing space for growth.
I am most proud of the community we have built. Seeing students transform from shy individuals into confident performers is incredibly rewarding, those who have seen my boohoo cry know! I thrive on the excitement of witnessing their progress, whether they’re performing at local events or simply enjoying singing in a supportive environment.
Getting to where I am today has been a journey filled with ups and downs. Balancing motherhood with starting a business was no small feat; there are moments of self doubt and struggle. I faced challenges like establishing my brand, attracting students, and managing my time effectively. To overcome these challenges I leaned heavily on my passion and sought support from my fellow educators and mentors. Each hurdle continues to teach me valuable lessons about resilience and adaptability and the importance of community. I want the world to know that my brand is dedicated to empowering individuals through the art of singing. Its more about music; its about fostering confidence to raise your voice in all situations- something so important, especially today.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Oh Miami! My home and most vibrant loves!
We cant start the day off without a cafecito and a guava and cheese pastry. I would then of course take my bestie to a the beach to sunbathe and check out the beautiful Miami beach scenery. I would then have dinner and drinks at Faena Hotel while enjoying the amazing live performance they have.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First and foremost, my children, Mia and Kai. The reason I have fallen in love with motherhood and have found my purpose. My husband Gary, for the unwavering support- 9 hour work days to then rush home and help me set up for recitals, or business expos. Thank you for believing in me and my mission to help other singers who struggle to find their voice, you have been my rock and voice of reason whenever I feel like giving up. My parents who still call me their superstar whether I fill up a room with 5 or 500 people! My mentor and best friend and business Auntie, Cassandra, thank you for giving me the ideas and opportunities to really reach the ones who need this the most.
